The title says it all but to be redundant... i don't know what microprose has devolved into but as i've been replaying masters of magic from good old games i have come to the conclusion it needs a sequel. I think using a civ type engine would work wonderfully, i would also fear a masters of orion 3 situation which completely defiled the first two. I'm really just trying to get some buzz out and see if people agree with me, and/or would make it profitable to someone who wanted to make a new version.

Certainly, you're not the only one who thinks that.
Age of Wonders II: Shadow magic.
Its perfect. It really is.
There is no feature i can think of wich should or could be added.
You played MoM? You are right at home.
Its got everything you want and lots of things you never knew you needed.
(like a map generator for an example, so you and the friend you playing with are steadily supplied with new, unknown maps for all ethernety - and of course its customizable, and of course there is an advaced settings menue allowing you to tune every facet of the map, if you want to for some reason, it can be played hotseat, via LAN, internet and PBM... and if its played by multiple computers the turns are done SIMULTANEOUSLY)
Agreed, ACSIS, I'd definitely go with Shadow Magic over Elemental. Elemental is interesting, and has a great deal of potential, and it looks like Stardock has been working hard to improve things. But AoW is just so good straightaway that it's your better choice.

Have you looked at Elemental: War of Magic?

Really? I didn't see anything about it on your link...
But as mentioned, Elemental: War of Magic is probably as close as it will get in the next couple of years.

IOS Game Center ID: Isotope-X
it's not a sequel, it's just rebalancing and fixing the bugs in the original.
That said, they are change Elemental like motherfuckers, so give it a year or so and maybe it will be as good or better.
