I need one. Quickly. Power went out at the house and when my fiance rebooted her computer, she accidentally deleted the autosave of the big paper she was writing (due tomorrow)

I need an undelete program that is simple and easy to use - I can't really run it while I'm at work

Suggestions?

There's probably a temporary copy saved somewhere.

No ASD files. Too many TMP files for her to go through by herself and I don't trust her doing that honestly

Looking for a simple app to recover. I've used them before, I know they're out there, just don't remember what they are

What OS is it? If none of zilo's solutions work and she's on Windows 7 (Vista might also have this) and the file was located in a folder on the hard drive then you should be able to right click on that folder, select properties and then go to the Previous Versions tab. I'm not on my Windows machine right now so I don't know if it's something you have to activate manually but Windows will save past versions of the folders which you can access and recover deleted data.

yeah she's on 7. I'll have her try that

Problem is she says she saved it, but when the computer crashed her saved document was missing about 40% of what she had done

If that doesn't work I've just remembered Recuva. http://www.piriform.com/recuva

I've only used it rarely but it's recommended often enough that I figure it would be worth a try.

You have to search tmp files by date and time. Look for anything that changed in the hour before the crash.
