Atlus + The Cursed Crusade: totally not after the Demon's Souls market

So there's no thread to my knowledge, and I kind of want to talk about this. It's obvious they want the Demon's Souls demographic, but will this have even a fraction of what made Demon's Souls good?
It looks atmospheric and fun to play, but then there's the static protagonist, and there's no way it'll have anything as fun as the invasion/assistance mechanic of DS.
I don't know if the Demon's Souls comparisons are as overt as you make them out to be. At least judging by that trailer, as it doesn't really give much away. Looks like a rather deliberately paced third person action game, but do we know what the structure or progression is like? Is there even any online integration?
All I got from that trailer is that the animations are pretty good.
Edit:
Just saw the description below the trailer. I guess there are similarities, but I'd still like to see an actual gameplay demo.
Also the developer's history is really not very illustrious.
Cherrn on
All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.

The third person look and the equipment location looks very similar to DS, I think.
What a creatively bankrupt game and setting concept.
All I've seen is the title, the image in the OP [strike](not the video)[/strike] and the animated gif.
I am guessing this could also be called "Medieval Muslim Murdering Simulator?"
EDIT: I hope the back of the box has "Play in a cursed Crusade while being damned due to Righteousness!" as a gameplay feature.
No I don't. Aside from the decent graphics, this looks terrible.
First and foremost, Muslims were not innocent victims in the Crusades. The war between East and West began centuries before the Crusades ever began. If you don't look at Muslim expansion, it becomes hard to explain why Crusaders ended up in Jerusalem, when Spain was overun by the Moors, and reached as far as France before Charles Martel defeated a raid-in-force at Tours.
Slaughtering people was simply how warfare was conducted in those days, for every Christian slaughter at Jerusalem and Antioch, there were similar actions at Acre and Hattin. Both sides executed prisoners of war when it suited their political needs. Richard the Lionheart is typically called a savage for executing 2,000 POWs when Saladin waffled on their ransom... and usually ignore the fact Saladin did the same thing to captured soldiers at Hattin, and threated to do the same at Jerusalem. The basic principle of warfare was that if you *didn't* come to terms *before* a castle was breeched, the attackers were well within their rights to slaughter everyone. You don't watch your comrades getting hit with burning oil and getting spears in their guts without taking it out on those inside who refused to surrender.
The 4th Crusade was an extremely weird event in which a Christian military expedition essentially went rogue on the Pope, ended up hopelessly mired in Byzantine politics (they backed a coup-detat who promised the Crusaders help in retaking the Holy Land... and couldn't comply since his nation was broke), and ended up sacking Constantinople as a result. It pretty much forever split the Orthedox Church with Catholicism. These Crusaders got themselves an excommunication for their reward from the Pope, who was furious. While this certainly shorted the lifespan of the Empire, it was the waning power of the Byzantine bulkwark against the East which required the Crusades in the first place.
In short, the Crusades were massive efforts to retake the Holy Lands that failed. And after they failed, the Ottomans were perfectly content to rampaging all through Eastern Europe until the Holy Leagues finally shut them down, or at least contained their advance.
That being said, the game itself looks rather badass, and if we get Crusaders fighting zombie demons, that'd be just amazing.

Happy to oblige.
