So I just reset my computer completely, and I was going to sync back all my iTunes stuff from my ipod to the new account, but when I try to do it, it tells me there are 100 songs that I am not authorized to transfer. I have already stopped buying music online unless it is impossible to find in the store for reasons along these lines, but I would not really like to lose $100 in music if i can help it. Is there another program that I can use to get my songs off my iPod?
That same message should give you the option to authorize the computer. If not, then the option is in iTunes' Store menu (i.e. between Controls and Advanced, not "iTunes Store" in iTunes' sidebar).
If you've forgotten your password for that iTunes Store account, there will be a handy "Forgot password" button in that authorization dialog. Alternatively, you can go to appleid.apple.com and reset it there.
Well I think the problem now is that we've used the same itunes account across many computers, and never deauthorized any of them because they have all totally falied due to bullshit such as lightning strikes.

Once you do that, you can reauthorize up to five computers at the same time. You can force deauthorization like this once a year.
