The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Today I appealed the grave injustice of receiving a camera-based moving violation and supposedly running a red light.
I won the Magistrate over with a combination of cunning wit, exceptional legal knowledge, and my own stack of insurmountable evidence.
Take that, Boston Municipal Justice!
As I sip on my victory cocktail at 2pm, I can't help but wonder what other forumers have done to win legal battles and defend themselves against the man.
So, SE++, share with us your victories over the man and the legal system. Or, perhaps, how you have been totally fucked over by that same very system?
I am in the business of saving lives.

I once got a ticket because my car's registration had just expired. But the officer never filed the ticket, so when I appeared in court they had no record of my wrongdoing. Win by default!

Enjoy the nightsticking the cops give you when you're pulled over.
Sometimes I wonder if I am inherently broken, because I find that nothing in this world infuriates me more than the bureaucratic morass that is the system of traffic laws and penalties in America.
I would feel better if the county just taxed me more rather than playing this Calvinball style game designed to penalize people for trying to get from point A to point B in a reasonable fashion.
my ex went through the houston tollway without paying, but the car was registered to me, so the bill got sent to me. now, this was like two years ago, and neither of us have paid the bill and the car has since been sold, so suck it houston

I had a traffic ticket for speeding.
After going to court I was just "Judge, I have a justice class to go and I'm going to be late so lets just deal with this in the fastest way possible for all of us" and the judge was all. "Cool, case dismissed" and it was awesome.
The ticket I received in the mail came with no photograph, though the date of infraction and date of citation were two days apart.
First, I dressed appropriately. Suit, tie, nice shoes. I prepared documents beforehand detailing my driving record via State Farm Applications for the past nine years that all had the 'Good Driver' discount which you can only get of you have no moving violations in the previous two years.
Second, I made sure my stethoscope and anesthesiology name badge were easily visible.
Third, I kept my cell phone on silent, I mean - some people were actively talking in the court room.
Fourth, when called to the Magistrate he asked me what happened. I told him I was driving home from my first week as a nurse anesthesia student at Boston Medical Center and that I was passing through Kenmore square during a night Red Sox game where they beat Baltimore 6-1. I told him that I had recently moved to Boston and had never driven through such traffic before. Finally, I told him that I have never ran a red light, been pulled over, or otherwise have any moving violations. I expressed my embarrassment as I may have had to enter a late yellow to avoid being rear ended in traffic. I wrapped up with explaining that I was more than willing to pay the $150.00 ticket, but the $1,500 increase in my insurance premium over the next five years was unnecessary.
He said he agreed, smacked his gavel thing, declared me not responsible.

People exceed that number and get caught.
People whine endlessly about how bullshit the ticket is.
People should just man the fuck up and deal with it.

This is why the mods don't like megathreads. Just let people post legal victories and such in here
well, their argument is that if I don't pay the fines and legal fees they will put a hold on my vehicle registration
my argument is to throw the letter in the trash because I don't own the car anymore
I guess this song lied.
I am a crazy guy
This one's more accurate

how do you argue against a camera?
