Windows gadgets

So I'm running Win7 and I have a bunch of those windows gadgets on my desktop. They're very useful and I love them.
However I just found out they love to eat up memory; they take up something like 300MB, which is just a tad too ridiculous.
Now if I'm using my pc for some internet browsing, or something minor, then that's just fine.
But when I'm running memory intensive programs like games, for example, I'd prefer to not have them eating up large chunks of memory.

Does anybody know a way that I can disable them temporarily, and then restore them right back?
I can't just X them out because then I'll have to set them up all over again, and for some of them that's just too much of a pain.
Basically I sort of want an on/off switch for these things such that when I turn them back on, I don't have to set them up again.
Does anyone know if this is in any way possible?
