Hey,

So Call of duty black ops can't connect to multiplayer, this sucks obviously. The only issues that it could be si i guess closed ports? At least thats what the support page says. Anyway i've done this before so i think, no worries, i have portforward.com open They don't have my router but this has the same interface so whatever.

But it still doesn't work, they have this portchecker tool, it says none of my stuff is open. So is this a modem thing? Do i have to mess around there? Anyway obvious i might have done wrong? Thanks dudes

edit: the modem is an alcatel speedtouch. The router is a belkin, N+N no other designation i can find, or i have an apple airport express my sister sometimes uses, cod doesn't work on that either.

When I've had this problem in the past (for other games, mind you), I run through the following list of things:

    1. Try connecting directly to the modem and then running hte game

    2. Make sure you don't have something like norton internet security running in the background

    3. If you must have something like norton internet security in the background, make sure that Blops is allowed on the list of permitted programs or whatever

    4. Make sure to run Blops as an administrator on your computer

    5. Tech support

Usually, some combination of these things will either fix the problem or result in information that eventually fixes the problem.

Ah i can't really hook them up directly without shlepping the pc across the room. Still if need be i'll install on my laptop and try that way.

I've got the windows virus thing and firewall, but i checked those already. Running steam as admin didn't work. I'll email tech support but i don't have high hopes.

When you say it doesnt connect to multiplayer, what do you mean? Like, it doesnt find any servers, or when you try to connect to a server you get rejected?

Also if that port forwarding thing says you dont have any open ports, thats where id start looking for the problem. You probably didnt forward the ports properly.

*edit* are you sure youre looking at a similar router on portfoward.com? because that page you linked says you cant open up enough ports. I find that hard to believe unless call of duty uses like, every single port. Also a wireless N router should handle UPnP no problem so port forwarding shouldnt even be an issue.
