I did a couple projects using JQuery about 2 years ago and need a refresher. Was poking around online but I was wondering if anyone knew any particuarly good references.
If you refuse the pornoscan, are then told that if you do not concede to the scan you won't be allowed into the area and then continue to refuse that does not give the guard a right to then pat you down despite the fact that you just recently tried to get into the area.
That doesn't make any sense.
How?
I'll try to break it down into steps:
1. You are told to get into the scan, you deny them permission to scan you.
2. Guard informs you that you're not allowed into area without scan.
3. You ask if there would be an option other than scan.
4. Guard informs you there is not.
5. You go home, without being patted down because the guard doesn't have any reason to pat you down/it would infringe on your civil rights.
Yeah... I noticed the TSA stuff going on. Makes me less than enthusiastic to fly to the States at the moment, but it appears that Narita still isn't using the scanners yet.
And of course Capitalism works. It would just work better without the idiots in Congress.

Stilist and I do a good deal of jQuery work (more him than me, lately).
I've never really used any refs other than the official docs, though. Stil might have some better reqs. Mostly I'd recommend non-jQuery specific stuff like Crockford's Javascript: The Good Parts

If you are not permitted into the security area without being scanned, then the only reasonable interpretation of that is that you are perceived to be a security risk. If a person is a security risk then it doesn't make any sense to let them wander around without checking.
If a person refusing to be scanned is not a security risk, then there's no reason not to let them into the security area and just pick someone else to be scanned. The effect is the same.

It's for a job that would involve some JQuery specific work (no choice there, though the job is mostly WPF and Silverlght). Though I'll check that Crockford reference as well.

Yeah, if a person is a security risk it doesn't make sense to let them wander around without checking - but it would be an infringement on their civil rights to randomly accost them and demand they allowed you to pat them down. It's just very important this is maintained.
I think we can both say that the bodyscanners are pretty dumb and unnecessary.

you can't not get checked?
That's kinda not legal
This is what I'm trying to say. It's not legal to be randomly patted down without due cause.
Due cause is definitely not "denying permission to be put in the pornoscanner".

dunno about there but I'm pretty sure due cause doesn't enter into it
unless you're the police you can't pat people down against their will, for any reason
also who cares about security risks who are not past the security checkpoint
what're they going to do, blow up a kiosk?
Or a lounge full of people, or the people queuing to check in, or a train/bus, etc. etc.
I'm mildly surprised that teh turrists haven't been keeping the pressure up with attacks just outside of the security lines, to keep the acts of terror close in mind and moving the security area further and further out into the airport.
This is what I'm trying to say. It's not legal to be randomly patted down without due cause.
Due cause is definitely not "denying permission to be put in the pornoscanner".
Then why is refusing to go through the scanner justification for not being permitted on your flight? Either it's suspicious or it isn't. If it is, then it must be accepted that the security forces have cause to check that person out further. If it isn't, then there isn't any reason not to let them on the flight.

That's because they're largely an imaginary threat.

It's just airport policy. You mistakenly believe that any form of sanity must be behind the reasoning that leads to any form of company policy.
Airport policy: if not scanned then not on flight. Not exceptions.
Has fuck-all to do with them being a security threat.

they can have all cause they want it's still not legal to just search people because you feel like it
these people are civilians, remember
EDIT: Also, because alternative two is just ridiculous. "Hey do you mind getting scanned?" "Yes." "Ok then have a nice flight"
it would be precisely as effective as having a guy ask people if they have a bomb, ten knives in the heart

I have wondered that too, the lines to security is always packed with people and there is often ropes everywhere so its not like people can run away if something happens.
Man... Australia is looking better and better for next year. Even if I still have to pay US income taxes. >.<
Aren't US income taxes somewhere around 2 dollars per person?
All I can remember is that my sim city people would whine as fuck if I instituted a 1% income tax. I tried to just tell them to shut the fuck up and be satisfied I wasn't raising it to 51% and creating Sweden in the process.

Which was my point in its entirety really. It's farcical precisely because it isn't consistent. They should either enforce it consistent and reasonable manner or stop pretending like it matters.

Sims are retarded. I created hurricanes and giant robot attacks every so often to punish them for their evil greed.

We're still alive! Capitalism works.
It comes with a lot of addons and possible extensions.

well they could do that anyway
without first visiting security
anyway what you're saying is blatantly illegal
if you go to the checkpoint and say "hey I don't want you looking through my things"
they can't say "sorry but you can't leave. We have to."
they say "Okay, go home."
