Recommend me stuff for jazz guitar practice

Alright, it's been about two months since I really practiced guitar with any honest intent, and six months since I was actually getting some formal education. For the next eight months, between living in Japan for another six months and then summer for three months after that, I'm basically self educated.
Alright, my ultimate goal is to get into my high school's jazz group. The audition for this is in March. I also want to practice for my own personal gain. In terms of music type/genre, my aims fall into the general categories:
-Jazz, both for musical theory and for aforementioned goal.
-Pretty much everything else for personal enjoyment
-Getting a good training rhythm going during the free time gap during which I generally abuse the internet.

So if anyone has experience with jazz, recommend me some good chord songs to practice that won't mangle my hands too completely. It's been a while since I actually did anything with jazz, but I still have a few papers on the subject. My buddy Ryan also recommended I practice diatonic scales, 2-5-1 progressions, and general music reading. If anyone has a good resource on those, go for it.

If you're in the know about any other crazy good guitar resources for general use, go for it as well.

Also, if anyone knows how to get good clean tone out of a Line6 Toneport amp simulator, for the love of all that is holy please tell me. This thing is way too staticky most of the time, even on softer settings.
