Any Vancouverites (I know there are a few of you on the boards!) know of a decent and reliable Tech Jobs recruiter I can sign up to? I'm looking to relocate to Vancouver in June next year (when my gf's UK visa expires and she has to go home). I'm a British citizen but I'm applying for a Canadian citizenship certificate (coz my mum was born in Canada).
I'm a software engineer by education with 10 years work experience but for the last 4 years I've been more of a customer facing field engineer, fixing and diagnosing/repairing stuff on sites.

Do you have any experience in the video game industry? I have some recruiter contacts who always seem to be looking.
You can try Hays, I hear they aren't too bad for tech jobs.
Also a dude named Jared Shaw recruits for Propaganda / Disney in Vancouver ... so there's him. Um.
I got my admin job through Spherion - had a steady job within a day, and I've been there almost 7 years now. I belieeeeeeve they might do tech as well but I can't be 100% sure.
I used Hays to get my job when I moved here, but the guy I worked with there moved on to his own company. I'll see if he's looking for fresh blood. He specializes in IT/dev jobs.
Thanks guys. I don't have any experience in the video games industry, other than 25 years of playing video games I am a qualified software engineer though, so can write code in C++, C#, also have some web stuff etc.

If you can code in C++, still might be worth a look. I will PM you the recruiter's email.
You may have difficulty finding a job in Vancouver remotely, or at least that was my experience several years ago. At the time I was looking there was a glut of tech talent and not enough jobs to go around, so employers could afford to be choosy. Part of being choosy is giving a pass to anyone not already located in Vancouver, because then they didn't have to worry about paying for moving expenses, etc. You have a lot more experience than I did when I was looking though, and the market conditions may be different now. I've PM'd some details on one place I know is almost always hiring. Good luck!
