Gamestop Black Friday 2010 Ad. Overwhelmingly awesome or awesomely Underwhelming.
I was thinking that black friday at gamestop in the awesome economy we are in would have some good deals on used games, but then i saw the black fridday ad:
Unless you need to pick up a new console, looks like the deals are not that great. Unless someone knows something that i dont, i was hoping for maybe a buy 2 get 1 free or buy 3 get one free on used games.
sharing this though as the flyer was only leaked yesterday (as far as i know)
I LOVE HOW THEY ADVERTISE BLACK OPS. i mean, its the same retail price of $59.99 but they throw it in there like its not available at every store everywhere lol!
According to CAG, they're also doing a Buy 2 Used Get 1 Free sale then, so it's not completely worthless. Oh and I'll probably pick up Lego Harry Potter 360 there since it's only $30 and I know the family wants it.
Times like this I wished I lived in the US. I need a new DS and a DSi XL for $180 is fucking fantastic especially since that's the price of a new DS Lite down here.
Yeah, they usually do a buy 2 get one free as well, I'm sure it'll be the same this year.
Other than that, nothing so great. There's going to be quite a few places that are going to be selling AC: brotherhood and NFS for like 39.99, so I might pick up one of those up.
Also ridiculous how they advertise "3 free games with the Wii, bonus $90 value!" when two of the three are basically standard with all Wiis now. You're getting Just Dance, a bonus $50 value, unless it costs even less now.
I swear this guy like, works for Gamestop or something. Just pretends to hate the deals so he doesn't seem like he's advertising. Just hopes people will say "actually that's not bad." This is at least the third time he's made a thread of this nature.
What dolt would buy both Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts? The latter makes the former redundant. It would only really be worth it if you got Scribblenauts free, but even then I wouldn't really recommend it.

I gotta say that this year's Black Friday ads are quite disappointing. Target has DQ9 for $17 and K-Mart has a $20 gets you Mass Effect 2 (360) + 1600 MS point card deal, but other than those, I haven't seen anything that I want personally.
I was really hoping for some nice sales on Vanquish & Castlevania since those are both games that look fun that I don't want to pay full price for, but so far nothing.

You would not advise two games for the price of a single game? That makes no fucking sense unless you have SEVERELY limited storage space for very small flash carts.
I'm sure plenty of people own both games. Many of them have not played 1 or 2 and therefore they do not know the difference between said two. They ARE two different games, so I don't see why it's such a bad idea to own both.
You just have ants in your pants mister.
As to the topic; those ads are pretty weak. I see nothing there that says "super deal" at all. Especially the "Free games" - that shit is a joke.

It's just akin to buying say both Madden 09 and 10 or something. You can do it if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it. Super Scribblenauts fixes near everything that was wrong with the first game and makes it near unplayable.
I don't know what the individual prices are for them, but if the deal makes Scribblenauts something like 5 bucks extra, then it's a "deal" in the financial sense, but I'd sooner recommend someone just save the 5 bucks for something else.

That I can understand. But a free game is a free game lol. If it was 5 more, yeah I probably would not bother because I've already played both of them, but for someone who has not.. mehh, I could see why they would and it wouldn't really make them a "dolt" heh.
I relate Madden games to Final Fantasy games, and my opinion of the FF series is pretty harsh.
Re ADS: I don't understand the "Door Buster" thing. Is it just a short run "special" or is it a membership of sorts?

Well, if it's free, then that's fine. But the wording on the flyer is a bit ambiguous. It seems more like a "Buy one, get the second for half price" kind of deal. In which case it's a bit of a sucker's deal. I'd sooner just recommend Super Scribblenauts to somebody and tell them to ignore the first one.

Well, do the first game and second game not have different puzzles? Is Super a remake or a sequel? Because if they're still both different games with different puzzles, then I don't see why buying both would be a bad move.

I haven't played either, but from what I've heard, the first game was broken in many ways that the sequel fixed.
You spend a lot of time watching Maxwell flail around and die while your tapping either trying to get him to move or jump, or just to attack or pickup something.
dpad + face buttons move the camera, and the stylus tapping/hold direction controls everything else.
the action stages are also really really frustrating
I enjoyed the 1st games puzzles. The second one seems pretty repetative, especially the ones where you have to wear an item that the douche bags in the box wants. That shit is boring. Technically though the second one is 100x better.

no. i just post about it. i like the business side of games, and like it or not gamestop is one of the largest game retailers on the planet.
anyhow, i got into an argument over returning a "new" game that was never played (bought as a gift someone already had it)... one of those new games that they open and put on the shelf. they had the nerve to act like i bought a shrink wrapped game and opened it to return it because i didnt like it.
that pissed me off, so no i dont work there at all. i do grand canyon tours on the las vegas strip. definately not game retail related.

something they have only a few on hand of... they sell them at what they would like to have the consumer believe is a loss (sometimes they are sold at a loss in the case of hardware) and that gets people to the store early.
better wording is "loss leader" and while you are there you will likely buy a few other things.
so a $20 dvd player, they hope you buy $100 worth of DVDs to go with it.
Those aren't really door busters. the $35 madden/NHL 11/New Vegas are much better deals at bestbuy.

Now Amazon's black friday sales, those I can get behind

The two combined = great fun. Just my opinion.
Fuck Gamestop.
EDIT: oooor not, I just realized which game was included, and the price was higher than I thought. :P
Shame on them for treating it just like they would any other dead console. Especially one that took steps to put them out of business!
But Atlus is just splooging all over the PSP and I like want to get a lick of that salty goodness.
