So my Wii seems to have gone kaput yesterday. I played it early in the afternoon, turned it off, went back to play it again a bit later and it wouldn't turn on. All I can remember doing in the interim is unplugging it to plug something else in. Now it gets no power light when plugged in and won't turn on. I'm wondering if you guys can tell me anything about the common causes of Wiis dying, and how repairable it is (not via Nintendo, I'm running homebrew). There's always the chance that it's just the power cord and that's what I'm hoping for, but it seems unlikely.
Thanks!
Thanks guys! Unplugging it for a while worked. You rock.
try unplugging the adapter from the wii and the wall socket and leave it out for 20 minutes. then try again. sometimes the surge protector in the AC unit can get tripped
I feel like I heard Nintendo is fine with homebrew'd units but they'll come back clean.
YMMV but I remember a PA member sending one in. I'd wait for someone to confirm that though.
Try a friend's power brick before you start to panic. There's a fuse inside that blows sometimes. If I recall correctly, the first set of wiis sold had a panel you could unscrew on the brick to replace the fuse, but Nintendo did away with the panel on an early revision. If it turns out to be the brick, I think you can get a new one for like $20, maybe less.

This.
The problem you've described has happened to me on more than one occasion to me. The above tended to work for me.

Thirded.
By any chance, do either of you have a launch Wii?
I had a launch Wii when it occurred, but had to send it to Nintendo because the DVD-ROM busted the day Super Mario Galaxy was released. Since then I've not had any problems.

Not like it's hard to re-crack them.
