I haaate that stuff.
It's not like it is a body-cavity search. but eh, whatever.
Also as I posted in the other thread, this is going to set off a round of posturing and bickering and that is kind of it.

lets kick it to DEFCON 4
But that is still not going to constitute strong military action.
Someone start that thread that isn't me.
I just want my brother to get home before anybody gets sent off
Nobody is getting sent anywhere. We already have something like 28,000 troops in South Korea. And like I said, this is not going to lead to a resumption of the war. This is still stupid skirmishing.
And while it is bigger than anything we've seen so far, it is just going to lead to a bunch of yelling, and that's it.
Man, what? The US already has troops in South Korea. As Artreus already stated this is a big deal but all that'll come about is aggressive posturing by all parties involved. There ain't gonna be a nuclear Armageddon.
are you saying we should play Defcon
because Defcon is pretty fun
man I hope you're right
Oh man Defcon is pretty fun
the mod?
it was super fun but nobody plays anymore
Like I don't even know anything about the korean war
So thank you for assuaging me
It would make me happy before we all explode.
especially consider how shitty my computer it
The U.S. has had a large number of troops in South Korea since the Korean war. They are trying to reduce the numbers a bit but it is important to keep them there. Because the U.S. troop presence is a tripwire. If North Korea tries anything like invading, the U.S. is automatically involved in a big way. This really lowers the chance of any major military action, because it would be straight up suicidal.
Right now North Korea can get away with being intransigent and dickish. But that's kind of the limit of their power. They don't have the Soviet Union's support anymore, and they are more of an embarrassment to China than anything, so no real military support would materialize there unless the U.S. straight up invaded North Korea without provocation.
Basically, unless something big and wacky happens, and I mean way bigger than this artillery exchange, everybody is fine.
edit: also like it has been hinted at by other people, the state of the North Korean military is just sad. They have a bunch of troops and a lot of funding, but a lot of their equipment is really old and really shitty. Although I do hear they are good at rocket/missile technology. But for the most part, even if there was a war, your brother would be fine.
edit edit: Hooray for being an East Asian Studies/poly sci major
MASH 2.0
and now for an update from the only news source I trust

I say we should elevate the terror and defcon levels to Paul Mitchell and Gore Vidal Sassoon levels.
god it must suck for them, they're probably roused from their beds to patrol outside the gate in FBR for no adequately explained reason
