Monitor Out Of Range issue

I looked around and did a search, nothing popped up so I thought I would ask this question here. If there's a better forum for this or another thread already discussing this issue, feel free to point me in the right direction!

I have a two year old Gateway FX desktop PC with an (AMD) ATI Radeon 4800 SLI graphics card running Windows Vista. I have two monitors, my primary monitor is a 22" and my secondary monitor is a 19". Both monitors run at 60 hertz. The problem is, starting this past week, whenever I try to run a game in windowed mode, both monitors flicker, then turn black with the message "Out of Range." I've tried reinstalling the OS, reinstalling video drivers, installing previous versions of drivers, I've made sure that all of the games are set to run at the correct resolution and hertz, still doesn't solve the problem. I can run games in fullscreen mode fine, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having dual monitors.

According to Google it seems like this is a common issue without an easy fix. It's just weird that I've been running this setup for over two years and have never seen this problem before. Any suggestions?
