Intro
The LPer: Hello! I'm SimpsonsParadox. You may know me for my many forumn roles, such as "Dude who stopped playing DnD a year back", or the perennial favorite, "Guy Who Played Starcraft And Was Bad # 526", for which I won the ever lasting scorn of the PA Mumble Channel. Today, however, I'd like to take you back to the good old days. The days when America was right (except when it was wrong), the Communists were all evil bastards (except when they weren't), and we could always use Russians as the generic bad guys of the week without anyone getting in a hissy fit. The days when Tom Clancy could actually string two sentences together, our President couldn't understand his main guy at the CIA, and a group of High Schoolers could teach them Ruskies a lesson in pain and in why you should never, ever, EVER, challenge the Swazye (Unless you're cancer! HEYOO...ooo....too soon?)

I am talking, of course, about the 80s. More specifically, I'm talking about

The Game: World in Conflict, a series of 'what ifs', such as 'what if we just pretended the Soviets had some sort of ability to magically supply an invasion force? What if China and Russia suddenly forgot they hated one another and became Bros? What if we made a pretty damn good RTS, slapped on one of the best video game stories ever crafted, and did it all while making the game play like a mix between Starcraft and a Micheal Bay movie?" You know. The good what ifs.

All joking aside, this is my first LP. If there are any audio issues, if my voice is horribly annoying to listen to, if I talk too much, etc, please let me know. I promise I won't cry too much.

FAQ
Wait, Wait, We're Starting With The Expansion?

Yes and no! The expansion to World in Conflict, WiC: Soviet Assault has a strange single player. Specifically, it's meant to be played stacked in with the original WiC storyline. In fact, if you start a new single player game from the menu, you'll start with the Soviets (IE: The first expansion mission) and the game will automatically layer them in the correct order. As of such, I'll be playing them in the 'correct' order, which is roughly 1 soviet mission for every 2 or so American missions.

Can You Talk Less/More Explain Less/More etc?

Possibly! As I said, this is my first LP, so if there's anything you see wrong or want me to adjust, please let me know. I will try to fix/adjust/cry myself to sleep as fast as I can.

Yesssss I love this game so much.

The cinematics are just top notch, and I quite enjoyed the story.

It really was like fighting in a Micheal Bay movie, all the TA's going off everywhere. Forget a squad of infantry for a second and you'll find their forest/house napalmed/bio'd.

Massively underrated and underplayed game. I should really get the expansion if it hits a steam sale.

And it probably will. I picked it up last year for $10. Still keeping my CE boxed copy. I've got my own little piece of the Berlin Wall.

I loved this game. Never got into the multiplayer though.

Thats how I got Soviet Assault as well. I had actually forgotten it was coming out until I saw it on Steam which was a nice little surprise.

And multiplayer can certainly be a bit strange. I'm not sure how much its changed in the two+ years since I actually played it, but it had a really odd (and, to me, endearing) mix of standard RTS, class based action MP, and Territory Control. I'll probably talk a bit about it during some of the LPs.

Okay, I'll admit. I may have gotten a little bit mad at Bannon. Said some things he's going to regret one day. But, come on. There is no way that, at this stage in the game, you can like Bannon. Forget the fact that hating Bannon is what you're *supposed* to do, and he eventually gets some form of character development. Forget that later on he'll do some awesome stuff and we'll meet other people who hate him as much as we do. Right now? Right now it's just you and me, Bannon. And we're going to have words.

Well, by words, I mean I'm going to yell at a computer screen while he takes the credit for my actions. Did I say words? I meant rage.

-edit- Halfway through uploading it I finally found the widget that made my videos widescreen(ish)! Ha! Me: 1! Computer: 392. I'm catching up! I also (hopefully) fixed the audio.
