Assassin's Creed: I, II, and Brotherhood Discussion
The Assassin's Creed series, developed by Ubisoft, debuted in 2007 with the original Assassin's Creed for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Players assumed the role of Desmond Miles, a modern day fellow who just happens to have a genetic assassin ancestor in his past. Using a machine called the Animus, Desmond is able to view and control his ancestor, an assassin by the name of Altair. Combining elements of stealth, action, science-fiction, and (partially) historical accurate references, AC was a commercial success for Ubisoft and work for a sequel was placed underway.
Assassin's Creed II launched in November of 2009, once again for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The sequel had players still playing as Desmond, but controlling a different assassin ancestor by the name of Ezio. AC2 added new gameplay elements such as swimming, riding horses and boats, and the introduction of Leonardo da Vinci who invents a bunch of devices for Ezio to use.
Riding upon the success of ACII, Ubisoft released the newest game in the series, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and Playstion 3. AC:B is a sequel in story to AC2 with players once again controlling the assassin Ezio. The difference this time around is that Ezio can recruit other assassins to work for him in his struggles against the Templars. Finally, AC:B is also the first game in the series to feature a multiplayer mode in which players are hunting targets while avoiding being targeted themselves.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer
New DLC Trailer
After the fall of the Borgias in Rome, Leonardo Da Vinci is kidnapped by the Hermeticists, an underground cult dedicated to transforming mankind. Ezio will embark on a relentless quest to recover stolen paintings in order to find Leo before it is too late, discovering two new locations and two new gameplay features along the way.
The multiplayer addition is the biggest expansion to the award-winning multiplayer yet, including one new map, four new characters and two new game modes. The new multiplayer map, Alhambra, is a lush environment set in Spain's Albaicin of Granada and provides multileveled indoor and outdoor areas perfect for predators to lurk in the dense crowd for unsuspecting targets.
There are four new characters: the Dama Rossa, the Knight, the Marquis and the Pariah and two new gamplay modes. These modes, Escort and Assassinate, will provide a whole new gameplay experience for Brotherhood players. In Escort mode, two teams of four players compete in this team-based mode where each team must protect their VIP target or assassinate the other team's VIP target. In Assassinate mode six to eight players are pitted against each other deathmatch style in one ten minute round.

AC:B introduces multiplayer for the first time and, much like the multiplayer mode of Spy vs Merc in Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series, it plays totally different then the usual run-and-gun affair, focusing more on stealth and style in disposing of your enemies. Due to the complex nature of how the multiplayer works, I've decided to create an entire section on how it works, the controls, and advice on how to be a more efficient assassin.
Multiplayer goals
The entire point of multiplayer is to kill your assigned targets (your contract) while avoiding being killed yourself. An assassin is only allowed to kill one person per contract. If he/she chooses incorrectly then the contract is lost and the player must wait for a new one to be assigned. This rules makes it so that every kill counts and you must be extra certain of your intended target before attempting the kill.
Each game will take place in a large, multi-leveled, town settings with large amounts of computer controlled characters walking and standing about. Before the start of the game, each player will choose a unique character model to represent themselves. Scattered throughout the level are multiple copies of each of the character models. By using these copies of yourself, you can blend into crowds or trick other players into killing the wrong target.
Controls
For a complex game, the controls are actually quite simple. All controls listed below are for the Xbox 360 version:
Left stick - move character
Right stick - move camera
A - walk faster
X - assassinate target
B - stun
Y - respawn (team games only)
LB - use ability slot 1
RB - use ability slot 2
RT - high profile mode (run, climb, etc)
LT - lock onto target
D pad - cycle between targets (team games only)
Back - view scores and equipment
Abilities, Perks, Streaks, Extra stuffAbilities (level unlocked at/level evolved version unlocks at):Disguise (2/32) - Change your character to temporarily look like another character. Best used to escape someone who is pursuing you but also can be used to sneak up on a target if they already knew your character type was searching for them.
Speed (3/34) - Grants a temporary speed boost to overcome a running target or escape an attacker.
Smoke Bomb (6/36) - Drop a cloud of smoke to stun opponents. A great defensive tool that can allow you to easily stun an opponent or create a barrier between you so you can make a break for it.
Hidden Gun (8/37) - Lock onto a target with LT and then hold the ability button. A line-cone will appear between you and the target with the accuracy of the attack increased the longer you hold the button. Release the ability button for a one-hit kill. Best used for opponents that like to run around rooftops. Generally doesn't net a lot of points.
Firecrackers (11/39) - Drop firecrackers to surprise NPC's and blind targets. A great offensive and defensive tool. Used offensively, you can drop firecrackers to reveal a target that is blended in with like modeled characters to cause all non-human controlled characters to cower in fear. Whichever character doesn't react is a human and should be killed quickly. Defensively, when firecrackers are dropped, human players will have their screen turn white and fade depending on how close they were to the firecrackers when they went off. Use this opportunity to stun or run, but be warned that you can still be killed by a blinded opponent.
Morph (14/41) - Cause computer characters near you to turn into copies of your character. Best used for escaping enemies, forcing them to pick randomly from the group or use an item to reveal you. Not great as an offensive tool as a group of multiple copies of a character looks rather suspicious to your target.
Throwing Knives (16/43) - Toss knives at a target to temporarily slow them down and make them unable to climb walls. Like the gun, best used against more run oriented players or people that climb all the time. Can be used on people climbing to make them fall down to you. You can throw them at someone chasing you, but this is very dangerous and not recommended.
Templar Vision (18/44) - Temporary vision that reveals the true nature of people near you. Reveals morphs, disguises, and so forth. Using this skill makes you shimmer, so be aware of using it in open spaces or where your target or pursuers might see you.
Charge (21/46) - A quick speed burst that allows you to push right through crowds without being slowed. Charge kills are possible by locking onto a target within range. Great for escapes and kills. When you charge, your character will automatically begin their attack or stun animation. This allows you to stun an opponent that has not revealed themselves yet,
but if they attack first, you will die due to the nature of attack > stun.
Decoy (24/47) - Targets a NPC character standing near you, turns them into your character type, and has them sprint off in a random direction. Very useful in combination with Blend or Morph. If your opponent gives chase, you can get an easy stun, escape, or lure bonus.
Mute (26/48) - Disables a nearby player's abilities and an enemies ability to kill. The tip-off is that a large circle appears underneath you when using this ability. Great for making a pursuer helpless and stunning them or disabling a victim's firecrackers and smoke bombs as you're on top of them.
Poison (29/49) - Poison an intended target while remaining hidden. The downside is that your target can be killed while the poison is taking effect, losing you the kill. Earn 200 bonus points for hitting a target with poison and 50 points if the target is killed before taking effect. The best part of poison is that you can kill a target without giving yourself away, thus avoiding the
"Mount Doom" effect.
Perks (level unlocked at):Enhanced AutoBash (20) - Automatically shove crowds and maintain better balance to better track down opponents or escape attackers. A great substitute for Sprint.
Wallrun (22) - Increases the rate at which you climb buildings. A general all-around useful Perk for escaping enemies and tracking down pray.
Resistance (27) - Decreases the amount of time you lay disabled on the ground. Good for team matches were stuns are more common or to save yourself from being assassinated while on the ground by an enemy.
Blender (30) - Turns one nearby computer character model into one that looks like you. This only works if there isn't already a model of your type around. Think of this as a free morph. As great as it is, it can also be a drawback if it reveals you accidentally when stalking a target. Be careful when using it.
Fast Getaway (33) - Increases the rate at which the escape bar drains when you are being chased. An awesome perk for Manhunt mode.
Chase Expert (38) - Decreases the rate at which the escape bar drains when you are chasing a target. Another awesome perk for Manhunt mode or when chasing roof runners.
Overall Cooldowns (40) - Reduces how long you have to wait before using abilities again. Great in combination with long cooldown abilities like Poison and Hidden Gun.
Silent Hunt (42) - Reduces the rate at which the awareness bar decreases from Incognito to Silent to Discreet. Honestly haven't found much use for this perk yet, especially when compared to some of the far more useful ones listed above.
Streaks (level unlocked at):Loss Streak: Extra Sensitivity (4) - Activates after dying three times in a row. Until your next kill, your radar is more sensitive to targets.
Kill Streak: 3 Kill Streak (7) - Earn 100 extra points for three kills in a row without dying or losing a contract.
Loss Streak: Reset Cooldowns (9) - Activates after dying three times in a row. You spawn with fresh abilities until you make a kill.
Kill Streak: 3 Silent Kills Streak (13) - Earn 300 extra points for three silent/incognito kills in a row without dying or losing a contract.
Loss Streak: x2 Points (17) - Activates after dying five times in a row. Your next kill will earn double points.
Kill Streak: 5 Kills Streak (18) - Earn 250 extra points for three kills in a row without dying or losing a contract.
Loss Streak: Boost Cooldowns (28) - Activates after dying five times in a row. Until your next kill, all abilities have their cooldowns reduced by a third.
Kill Streak: 5 Silent Kills Streak (31) - Earn 750 extra points for five silent/incognito kills in a row without dying or losing a contract.
Extras (level unlocked at):Ability Slot (2/10) - Assign an ability above to the LB and, at level 10, to the RB button.
Game Mode: Alliance (5) - Play a 2v2v2 team based game with two rounds. Round one has you hunting one team while avoiding the other and round two has your targets switch roles.
Profile Set (5/10/15/20) - Create up a combination of abilities, perks, and streaks that can be switched between spawns.
Colors (12/35/50) - Change the colors of all of the character models you've unlocked. Want the standard colored Priest, but a different colored Barber? Go right ahead, the choice is yours.
Characters (15/25/35/45) - Unlock new character models to play with in multiplayer mode. Get The Blacksmith at level 15, The Thief at 25, The Footpad at 35, and the Mercenary at 45.
Perk Slots (20/30) - Add permanent perks to your character. Use perks to save abilities in game.
Gear Packs (23/40/50) - Change the appearance of your character models you've unlocked. Fun little additions for a little variety on the character designs.
HUD Information and General TacticsHUD
The HUD is simple, but important to understand. Take a second to familiarize yourself with it.
-In the upper left corner, you have a number indicating what place you are currently in. Just underneath that is a space with up to four red indicators. Each highlighted indicator equals a person assigned to kill you. The higher your place in the game, the more people will be after you at one time. Pay a lot of attention to those red marks, if you see none you can focus more on your target and less time watching your back.
-In the upper right corner is an image of your current target. Just underneath the image is up to four blue indicators. Each indicator represents how many people are after that target. One indicator means it's just you, more than that though and you've got competition.
-In the lower left corner is your current abilities, each marked with the LB or RB buttons. If the ability has been used, a number indicator is displayed instead letting you know how long until you can use that ability again.
-In the lower center is a circle that represents your radar. As you get nearer to your target, the circle will begin to widen. When it flashes white, you are within eye-line of your target. If it's completely full, you are right next to them and can kill them. If you see the words, "Up" or "Down", this indicates that your target is above or below your position. This could mean up a flight of stairs or on top of a building.
-White lines on the ground. These lines indicate interactive areas. They can be next to crowds of people, moving crowds, benches, and so forth. If you stop moving your character while on top of these lines, you'll automatically blend in with the area. Your character is considered "hidden" while being chased.
-Chase mode. In the upper right corner under the target picture, a chase bar can appear. This happens when your attacker is chasing you or your target has figured you out and is attempting to flee. If you are chasing an opponent, a gray bar appears indicating you have to keep them in view at all times. If they leave your line of sight, the gray bar begins to shrink. If it depletes, they escape and you lose the contract. If you are being chased, a red bar appears. You have to break line of sight with your attacker, doing so causes the bar to turn yellow and deplete. If you blend into a crowd or jump into hay, you are considered in "hiding" and the bar turns blue. This breaks any lock the opponent has on you and indicates to your opponent that you may or may not be visible. Once this bar depletes from blue or yellow, you earn bonus points and your attacker loses the contract on your head.
-"X", "B", and "LT". Certain button icons will appear over the heads of characters around you. The "X" icon will appear over any person that you are looking at currently, be it a harmless NPC or your target. This is the indication of whom you will kill if you attack right then. Use this to make sure you are killing the right person. In addition, if you look closely, you can see a small circle slowly surrounding the "X" icon. The closer you stay to your target before attacking is what increases the size of the circle. If the circle completes then your character is going to do a focused kill earning you more points. The "B" icon appears if
you can stun a pursuer that has revealed themselves.
Be warned that stunning isn't easy and more often than not will end up with you dead. In a one-on-one fight, the attacker will kill the defender almost 99% of the time, even if you are rapidly jamming on the "B" button. To maximize your chance of a stun, attack from behind or after using an ability like smoke bomb or firecrackers. Remember, stunning isn't likely to win. The "LT" button appears only over the head of your victim. By tapping "LT", your victim will become locked and much easier to follow even after leaving your vision.
-The lock symbol and the red icon. The lock symbol occurs after your target does something overt, like running or leaping off a building, or if a player manual locks any target using the LT button. Locked targets will stay locked after leaving your line of sight, but the lock will break if they are hiding or out of sight for too long. The red icon appears over the head of a player that is hunting you. Again, this symbol only appears if they are using RT button actions in front of you like climbing walls, running, over leaping. An enemy with a red icon can be easily targeted and stunned if you can flank them from behind.
General Tactics
Generally speaking, you'll be focusing a majority of your time moving around the city and rotating the camera looking for your target or any pursuers. As you near your intended victim, switch to a slow walk or a slightly faster walk with the A button to stay hidden. Get in close and press X for the kill. Try not to make yourself stick out or be too obvious. CPU players tend to travel in packs or in a certain direction. If you are out in the open making a beeline towards someone, it'll be pretty obvious you're going for a kill. Try moving laterally or come in from an odd angle, corners work wonders.
Pay attention to that blue bar next to your target's picture. If you do anything high profile (running, climbing, etc) in their line of sight, the bar will drain losing you potential kill points and making you appear as an enemy to them. Sometimes it's OK to let the bar drain though, especially if you are aiming for a variety of kill types (see below for variety bonuses.)
Another great thing to learn is how to read the radar. It has two settings, blue and white. When it is blue, your target isn't in your line of sight. When it is white, you can see your target. What makes this important is being able to pick your enemy out from a crowd. Say you're following a target who morphed a crowd and now has three of his kind surrounding him. Watch as the group rounds a corner. If your radar turns blue as the first guy leaves your sight, that makes him the target. Simple observational things like this can help you pick out a target without resorting to items.
Don't be afraid to run after a target or climb buildings to get a kill. Sometimes that is a good thing. The game rewards kill counts, stealthiness, and variety. If you're getting a lot of 400 point incognito kills then you're doing great. You should try to mix in a silent and discreet kill as well. If you manage to get all three kill types, a focus, and say a stun, then you earn a variety bonus. For every five different scoring types you earn, you get an even bigger bonus. Some are lucky, getting a kill on a knocked out enemy, but the one's you can control you should. That being said, vary everything up. Personally, I start every match by running towards my first target. Even if they run, I can still get the "First Blood" bonus and the "Discreet" bonus right away. Now I'm only a Silent, Incognito, and Focus kill away from a bonus pushing me even further into first place.
After scoring a kill, your best option is to clear out ASAP. Run, don't walk to somewhere relatively safe. More than likely someone witnessed your kill and can now hunt you quite easily. Best to make a break for it and get into hiding. It's not like you have a new target right away and have to worry about draining your incognito bar. Another great feature of running after a kill is it forces your opponent to either give chase (giving away who they are) or waste more time slowly creeping after you. The only downside of running is that you can sometimes run right into an enemy's arms. Be careful!
For team games of Manhunt, always lock onto your target. Even if you get stunned, your teammates can pick up the kill netting bonus points for the target being locked. Try not to always go for the same target, spread out your searches. Working in pairs is also a great tactic. Have one player blend into a crowd in front of the target. Have a different player come up from behind, lock onto the target, and start running at them. If it works, the target will run right into the first player's blade netting a incognito kill, a teamwork bonus, and a hidden bonus. That's a lot of points.
Don't forget cooldown times and how they work. Each ability that you equip comes with a preset cooldown time. Poison, for example, has a cooldown time of 90 seconds. That means after you use it, it won't be available for a minute and a half. This is true even after you die and respawn, the timer is still going. More importantly than that is that the timer is also ability slot dependent. If I have poison equipped to "LB" on my controller, then even if I switch to a different class, the "LB" timer is still going to be counting down even though it isn't equipped with poison anymore. This is where overall cooldowns and cooldown resets come into play. Sometimes it's better to start a match with abilities that have shorter cooldowns then transition to other higher powered, longer cooldown abilities like poison and the hidden gun.
Don't forget challenges! Look up ability challenges and try and complete them to earn bonus experience and to unlock varied versions of your normal abilities such as Long Lasting Smoke Bomb and Slow Acting Poison. Each ability has two different unlockable variations that you can use to tailor fit your playstyle. Challenges and completion rates can be found on the Multiplayer menu.
In closing
As the thread moves on and I get more feedback, I'll be constantly updating this post. If you know or have any tactics, strats, or general information you think should be added, PM them to me and I'll add them ASAP. Also, I currently work for Ubisoft as a college rep (basically a glorified promotions guy) but I do have email contacts within Ubisoft. I'm also using this thread as a way for our community voice to be heard in regards to any complaints, praise, or suggestions we may have for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood or any other Ubisoft games.

Also, I've been thinking of picking up AC1 again and getting all the flags and Templars because I am a crazy person hurt me more
Oh yeah, just started attending SCAD this year. I'll be a Junior (at age 35...ugh) next year with a major in Videogame design and development. Who's your friend, maybe I know them?
As for the AC1 stuff, you're definitely crazy to get all that stuff. But hey, to each their own I always say.

Better you than me. I wouldn't have the patience for it unless there was a shiny Platinum Trophy for me at the end of it.
It's...deceptively simple but addicting for some reason
Have I stumbled into the reason why people play Farmville and Mafia Wars and shit?
Totally my fault for not getting the thread posted earlier. >.<
Edit: If anyone knows what the "?" areas in the OP do, please let me know and I'll update them.

Mute disables every nearby player's abilities, including killing, making it kinda like a silent smoke bomb.
Wall Runner increases how high you go running up a wall, letting you get to the roof faster
Resistance decreases the amount of time you lie on the ground in the fetal position when you've been stunned.
and Blender morphs 1 NPC in the crowd you've blended into a duplicate of you, provided that there isn't already someone in it that looks like you. This includes benches... and as far as I can tell there is no cooldown, nor waiting period between the blending and the morphing.
EDIT: You might also add that Templar Vision makes you shimmer when you use it, and that when you charge into a target or pursuer, you will automaticly begin killing/stunning him, even if you did not have a lock on him, making it another counter to morph.

which is why the "begin" is added in there. :P
One time she went outside and was right outside the door of the villa
Now she's been gone for the last few and I can't find her anywhere
I'm having a bit of trouble with multi. It might because I'm a low level and all my friends are high so we get put in games where I'm out classed, but I usually walk to my targets, no running around like an idiot (Except last night) but I'm still not racking up enough points. Also, what should I do if my target is sprinting around and I just want to walk to him stealthily to rack up points? That usually aggravates me because if I run to them I'm going to get a weak 100 points, and they could get away. I don't want to shoot them because thats still 100 points.
Updated the OP with your notes. Also added more stuff about the HUD. So much more to do...but I think I'd rather play more AC:B or BLOPS instead.

I hated the little qte segments in cutscenes in AC2, I felt so terrible when I wasn't paying attention and failed to return Leonardo's bro hug
are those still present in AC:B
In the St. Pietro Romulus Lair, when you corner the cardinal at the top of the tower, you get a special kill scene if you throw him over the railing instead of just murdering him normally.
1. The sync bonus for the first part is to not lose health.
2. The only decent attack you have with the apple that doesn't drain health is a counter.
3. You don't have a way to counter grabs.

Speaking of which, the game doesn't really have a lot of blood. For some reason, I like blood in video games, and I don't know why. Maybe because I see it as a notification that I'm winning or I'm about to kill someone.
Am I a bad person?

Mega spoilers:
That mission is one of the highlights of the game for me. I still remember every second of it.
I look at the apple, but I already know the apple uses up my health.
So I took off like a rocket. I headed left first and curved around the incoming guards then flashed through the vatician doors, leapt up on the railing, ninja sprinted down it and leapt into the fountain. I stumbled my way out of that and kept going full speed out of the gates at the end of the square.
I'm sprinting through the city streets, constantly watching the bottom of the screen. As soon as a papal guard or an agile guard appeared on it I tapped x (a) to do a quick jump. The guards attack would whiff and I'd keep sprinting.
I'd learnt this "avoid fast guards taking a swipe at you" skill during AC2 back when I was busy tearing it's combat engine apart for no good reason. And now it was all coming together. I was uncatchable and untouchable.
I kept doing this until I drew level with the water (which was still several blocks away to my right, but I knew due to familiarity with the area that it was several blocks to my right once I got close enough to the castello).
So I leapt up onto one of those steps made of crates and took one of those swings that sent me on the right path directly to the water. Leapt from beam to beam until I was on the roof, leapt from roof to roof until I was near the water and took a stylin' dive into the river.
Swim swim swim swim swim swim swim dive dive dive clear. Mission accomplished. 100% synch, first try.
After it was over I immediately thought to myself "There are people on PA who are going to really hate that mission."
I'm only able to remember everything I did so clearly because I was high as a kite on adrenaline from the start to the finish.
Kadoken:
Subject 16 is physically dead. His blood was all over the walls and floors of Abstergo.
He thrust it in the guys face and does a quick burst. The guy clutches his head and falls over with blood pouring out of his head from everywhere.
I made his brain explode.
That's easily one of the most horrific counters in the game.
