simple Q - IKEA floor protector - which side faces down?

One side seems to be flatter/smoother, but also a bit stickier - though no residue is left on your fingers after touching it...

the flip side has a slight texture to it, like frosted glass almost.

the label would be readable when the flat/grippy side is facing up... but then maybe the label is meant to be read only when you peek at the non-used side (like with a chair or table)

it's plastic, clear, and has no other distinguishing features

i originally thought the grippier side down, but now im wondering because it is flatter (better for rolling?), and the other side has texture - (meant for gripping the floor?) maybe it should be turned?

gah

and for the record yes it does matter - I'm one of those people who knows which side of a sheet should face down on a bed, which way a shower curtain should face, and a roll of tp should be oriented on the dispenser

I have the stickier side down on mine. I have wood floors and I don't think it would work as well with the textured side down..

And my chair rolls just fine with the textured side up :)

yeah i actually think the nature of the texture would make it stick less, as it's like curling ice. tons of tiny bumps = less surface contact = less friction = less grip

I would say stickier side down, I think the stickyness is to hold it to hard floors

and the texture on the other side is decoration and also because walking on extremely smooth surfaces is weird

The rougher surface is the one you put your chair on. It's rough to give some friction so you don't roll away.

There's a sticker on the thing that describes which way is up, I haven't removed my sticker so I'm looking at it right now =)
