Things That Just Won't Uninstall

I recently installed, played and got tired of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior 2 demo. When I went to uninstall it, the thing always stalls out.

I've gone and manually deleted everything I could find, searched the registry and deleted all files I found searching for "Ghost Recon" and "GRAW". Yet its still clearly on my machine in some capacity. If I attempt to reinstall it, it attempts an uninstall. If I check my Program Control, its still there, too.

I guess what I'm asking is whats a good way to deal with stubborn programs? I've also found my registry is bloated with all sorts of stuff that I uninstalled long ago. Explaining why every damn media thing asks me about Nero, which I no longer have installed.

    This happens to me too.

    My solution?

Backup my shit, format C:\, reinstall Windows.

Yeah, there's 2 ways around that. The first one would be a quick scan of the interwebs looking for an advanced uninstaller. I had Borderlands screw me over like that. Cannot remember the name of the program that removed it, will do some research.

The second way...is...of course, a format. But, I would suggest making a separate 25g partition dedicated to Windows only. Basically, the way I have it set up is 3 different partitions. I have the C drive dedicated to Windows, the D drive is for important stuff (About 30-40gb) and then the E drive is all the remaining space on the HDD.

If you ever need to format, just nuke C:\ and re-install. You can even use an ISO on your D drive (Other partition) to make the install go faster than the speed of smell.

There's also Revo Uninstaller, which usually does a good job of scanning the registry and whatnot after the program's basic uninstall for anything it left behind. Might give that a shot. It has a 'Hunter Mode' where it'll track down an application's file location when you click on it

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll be looking into advanced uninstallers for the bloated registry, but it looks like I'll have to wait until I actually need a format to get rid of this silly demo.
