Roll the bones

Let's talk about dice. To start this off... being a GURPS and 40K player I've spent an unhealthy amount on 12mm D6 and currently own about a dozen speckled sets in addition to a variety of mixed grab bags. My favorites are the Chessex cubes. Next purchase planned is these.

One of our superstitions was when a set of dice started rolling poorly, we rubbed them against a blank crystal block we called 'the nullifier.' Afterwards the dice would roll better... except when particular players touched them. We were also very particular about having personal dice and not spreading bad karma about the table.

So let's hear about your collections, your superstitions, and your stories.

"Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right, you meet the same idiots coming around from the left." -- Clint Eastwood ***

My favorite dice are my seven ivory antique 6-sided dice from the 1920s I got from a local antique store. They've got a ton of little nicks and dents from playing thousands of games over the years. Absolutely awesome.

I went to ConQuest last year and wandered by the Chessex booth, as usual. I already had some dice, and didn't really feel like spending 12 bucks on more. But then a blue gleam caught my eye: some very fetching D6s (the small ones - I don't remember the size) in a box marked "seconds". I ended up getting forty for $3, and only two or three are screwed up. They're also the best rolling dice I've ever gotten.

my roommate picked up a set of smoky translucent D6 at ComiCon last year... we rapidly renamed them the Dice of Infinite Improbability. These dice, I swear, would find out what the most unlikely roll possible would be, and did it... every time. Need to pass a 5+ cover save? You'll do it 80% of the time! Terminators only fails saves on a 1? Too bad, have you ever seen ten D6 land on 1's before?

I really, really want to get some inquisition dice. The ones with the =][= logo on one side of them.

No idea where to go for that. :(

All my dice were lost in my move. I'm sad.

A friend of mine had some custom dice made with a ninja and a pirate where the one and the six should be.

Which is one and which is six is comes entirely down to your opinion.

    that made me lol.

My friend has a set of black dice with black lettering. He rolls it, says "20" and picks it back up before anyone can even look at it.

Reading the op, I come to think of that film Intacto with Max von Sydow.
