    I've never given a game to someone who's outright asked for it. On more than one occasion I've randomly given people who have never asked nor expected something coming their way. That's the point of a gift isn't it? To surprise people?

    I have the 8800 GTS, and I've had to turn a lot of the settings to low or off to get a playable framerate.

    I have an 8800 GT and it runs quite well on my system. Everything is on High I believe, and it is gorgeous.

    It does stutter at times, but it is definitely playable.

    Well, I got the demo last night, and it runs surprisingly well. It hitched at the default settings a bit when I got to the first little town, but it seemed to run fine after I lowered the resolution off of the native 1680x1050 and lowered some of the quality settings....so I will probably buy it here in a bit. (In case anyone is wondering, aside from my P4, I have 4GB RAM and my video card is a GeForce 9800GT.)

    JC2 and Beat Hazard purchased. Steam did something cool by deleting the demo during the prep to download it. I kind of half expected it to do that, but I thought that was neat.

    And yes, people should not be coming in here expecting or even asking for gifts. Despite it being Christmas, gifts fly around all the time in this thread, but only if you're a part of the community. We grow strong bonds in this thread and among our smaller factions. If you're not in our family, you will be if you stick around long enough.

    Then you might receive a gift, undeserved, out of the kindness of our hearts.

    Unfortunately for me, I'm short on money, and I've only gifted one game, to Snappylicious, but maybe I'll get to gift more in the future!

    Wait.. Just Cause 2.. On sale..?

    EDIT: AND Metro 2033.. Guys, here's a quick poll for you. Do I have a problem if I purchase both of these games, despite also having BLOPS and not finished it, and FO: Vegas and barely even started it, and still haven't finished SC2 campaign, and so on, and so on, and so on.. So yea.. Problem, Yes or No?

    Do you guys think that they'll be doing those multi-packs again for the Christmas sale? I want to be able to purchase two of them to give away.

    Edit: Mount & Blade: Warband was one of the best game purchases I've ever made. I've put 61 hours into since that sale.

    I, too, have only gifted one game, but the recipient should be occupied for a long time - KotOR is both awesome and lengthy.

    As to whether or not a small backlog represents a problem I'd say no, but that's probably just to make myself feel better for having a gigantic backlog of my own. If nothing else, the pile of games I have to play keeps me from buying new stuff at full price so there's that.

    And I'd be surprised if the packs don't come back. Valve must have made a ton of money off of this one forum thread alone. Every time I poked my head in here the thread had moved 35 pages, 14 people had bought 8 copies of Just Cause 2, and were giving them away for funny MSPaint drawings. It was awesome.

    I'm really hoping Call of Pripyat goes on sale. I had an excellent time playing the first two STALKER games, and RPS' recent Christmas article on the third has me jonesing to go back and install the original. Then there's all the Metro 2033 talk on top of that in this thread. I could do with a salvaged pistol, vodka, and a smattering of Russian campfire songs.

    Must not buy Just Cause 2. I owned the damn thing on the PS3. I traded it in, because it was insanely overplayed at my place. But I did regret doing it. Damn I must resist.

    ok so I have a an hour to get the JC2 objective. what was easiest, using the flak cannon in the first mission? I didn't notice that many objects to destroy there.

    Let me tell you what games I have purchased on Steam during a huge sale, and are still sitting in my backlog:

    Deus Ex
    Deus Ex: Invisible War
    Evil Genius
    Half-Life 2: Eps 1 and 2
    Indigo Prophecy
    Jade Empire
    Just Cause 2 (as of 20 minutes ago)
    Left 2 Dead 2 (as of a couple days ago)
    Mass Effect
    The Witcher

    I don't think I paid over $10 for any of those, and I regret nothing. And that's not including some of the indie games I have purchased on a whim.

    You have plenty of stuff to shoot: radars, light posts, more radars. My first run through I blew up about 40 objects just pointing at buildings.

    I haven't gifted anything to anyone on here, and I've received one unexpected gift from someone on here who I already know in real life. Depending on what is offered during the Xmas sale, I might find myself on the giving end because that was pretty awesome of everyone here last month.

    I had no joy with the flak cannon - instead I took over the helicopter in the second mission and shot the heck out of all the convenient glass directly in front of me once I'd done so.

    Since then I think about 90% of my game play has been either looking for helicopters to steal, or blowing stuff up from stolen helicopters. I'm sure there's a plot to get back to eventually.
