Anyone own a V745A Vicks humidifier?

It's this one:

I want to buy one, but power consumption is a concern, since power down here is pretty expensive. From information I've been able to find on the web, consumption is listed as 260W but I would like to know if this is only for the "high" setting and if it's constant, or just a peak power use that happens in short time intervals.

Finding filters down here would be pretty difficult so getting a cool mist version doesn't seem to be a good option.

Thanks.

I have one. I believe the 260W is just on the high setting. I know it goes through water about twice as fast on the high setting which would lead me to believe that the element is hotter.

    Thanks!

I suppose that since it automatically knows how humid the room is, it also means it's not on all the time, right?

My room is really small (Like 10x12 ft) so it should humidify pretty quickly.

If you contact Vicks, they may be able to give you more specific information.

I have two of these for when we have sick kids, it doesn't monitor room humidity at all. It will run and output until you turn it off or it runs out of water and trips the auto shutoff.

Also since it is basically boiling the water to evaporate it and increase the humidity there is a bit of a hissing noise that accompanies it when it is on.

Oh what, hmmm. I saw several models and most of them claimed to monitor humidity, so this one doesn't eh. Thanks for the replies!
