PS3 Wireless Help!

I have been wrestling with my PS3 to get it connected to my wireless network since I got it about a month ago. At first the PS3 would find my router, get an IP but fail out on internet connection. I did some research and found 7-8 ports to open up on my router, manually configure IP and DNS settings and it finally connected for about a week. Now the PS3 wont even locate my router.

I have a Linksys G router on WPA encryption, other than that there is nothing really special about the setup. I have tried to setup the connection manually and automatically on the PS3 and still nothing. I have changed the broadcast channel to 2-3 random ones just to make sure it wasnt that. Everything has been power cycled and rest multiple times and my laptops work fine on the wireless. I spent all last night trying to get this to work again.

I am wondering if anyone else has had difficulty configuring your PS3's for wireless and what you did to resolve it. Thanks guys and gals!

How far away is the PS3 from the router?

Is there a kitchen in between the PS3 and the router? Is either crammed in a corner with a bunch of electronics?

I use wired now, but have done wireless and it worked fine.

I assume you don't have a MAC filter on?
Does the router need to be in Setup mode? There's a name like OneButton or something.
Can you take it (PS3) to another house and try it?

It is a straight shot from the PS3 to the router, couch and a half wall are between them.

    - I dont think I have a MAC filter on but I will just double check.
    - There is a one button setup on the router, I have never needed to use it to connect my computers to it but I will check it out just to cover all bases
    - I can probably bring it to a friends place on Monday and see if it connects.

I have just read a bunch of people having problems with wireless setups on PS3's but nobody said what they did to fix it. Maybe it is a smaller batch than I thought

Can you connect if you unsecure the network?

This probably isn't much help, but I had a similar issue with a linksys wireless G router (can't remember which one specifically and I'm at work, so I can't check), but I tried everything you did and eventually just gave up on it and bought a Belkin wireless N+ router and it's been working fine ever since. I remember reading somewhere (after tons of looking online) that some router models have issues with the PS3 for some reason.

Before up and buying a new router you should see if your router supports tomato or dd-wrt. My Linksys router had connection reliability problems (particularly with my PS3, PSP and apple powerbook) and flashing to open source firmware just "fixed" it. While more reliable with PC connections I still had to reboot the thing every couple of days because my PCs wouldn't be able to connect until I flashed it. Don't know why the open source firmwares seem to be so much better than the default firmware in most budget routers.
