So for the past few months at work I've been using the Windows Movie Maker that came on my machine, with Windows XP. Not that it was a particularly robust tool, but it had everything I needed to make effective (if unsophisticated) videos.
I'm at home now trying to edit here, and I had to download Windows Live Movie Maker for Windows 7. It's completely unusable - there's no timeline, I can't view the audio track, and the "Features" appear to have been brutalized so that the program is usable by a 5 year old, but not by me. Am I missing something? Is there another free video editing tool that has the features I'm looking for? This is driving me insane.

Yeah, the Windows Live version absolutely sucks. It's missing most of the stuff the previous version had.
