Well... sort of
I'm a special student cause I failed out of my previous uni. Some of you may know that I used to be a Photography student at Concordia in Montreal. Well, since I've moved back to Ottawa, I did some research and learned that Carleton University is actually a respectable establishment and won't admit failures. Who'd a thunk it?
Thankfully they have a Special student program, so (starting this summer) for the next few terms I'll only be able to take 1 credit per session. Until I prove myself and can be admitted full-time.
So... this is kinda good news for me. I am happy.

That's exactly what I did, actually.
It took me so long to pay my tuition for the previous year (I was an english lit student and changed my major) that I couldn't have a proper photo-student schedule. I kinda just took anything that was open. I'm sure if I'd spent all my time in the photo department I'd have done better.

You don't study it as a technical craft, you study the artform.

An excellent question, and one that needs answering.
However, failing an answer to that, I think that we at the very minimum need to find out the answer to the question which will determine the course of this thread.
That question being
how do you fail photography?
maybe the assignment was "Take some nice pictures of trees"
and he totally just took pictures of ripped dudes playin volleyball.
It's not hard to not fail out of college.

yeah, well my school has an attendance policy
miss 1 class - nothing
miss 2 classes - grade goes down a letter in that class
miss 3 classes - grade goes down two letters
miss 4 classes - you fail the class
i mean, you only have each class once a week, so it makes sense
it's so they can fail you and then you pay them again
Lots of courses in Ottawa have a "Participation" mark, which basically means 10% of your mark is attendance, miss 10 classes lose 10% of your mark or something along those lines..

Most of them don't, but I still go anyway.
I am paying way too much to not go.
