Took a long walk in the Nether and built an exit portal. Got some cool new terrain to explore. Saw my first surface level lava pool. Watching cows just wander into them and go poof is just good family fun.

You URC guys are horrible neighbours! Hammering and drilling the whole day long!
And my wallpaper is rolling from the wall from all the heat your lava entrance generates!
And who is breathing so damn heavy?

Clearly a photo of some sort of redstone cult ritual. That one is going into the files.
Notch forgive me, for I've neglected finishing my 12 story tower in SP, and hesitated to play SMP since beta. I dare say I've not been mining nor crafting for the better of two weeks. I feel empty, like a husk of a man.
Father, can I be forgiven? And if so, what shall my repentance be?
[PS!] Anybody not following the Yogscast (bluexephos) youtube MC vids are missing out. The finale went up today, and it's all gold, from 1 to 27, they really made something great to watch, coming from a (nigh) die-hard fan of the game.
[edit] Yay; totp! And to AaronKI, of course it is! You can see them mid-act of throwing that redstone dust in cultist fashion!

come to the Underdark and settle in Lumberice and all shall be forgiven
Hey, so quick question that the official site hasn't been able to answer. I lost/forgot my login when the old hard drive fried itself. Is there anyway to recover my user name/password if I didn't set it to an email address? I've emailed support several times over the past 3 months and they have yet to respond. Anyone got an idea besides just typing in random passwords and user names and hoping one of them works?
No cultist me! You can clearly see in the picture a lack of convulsive leaping on my part.
Hell, I don't think I'm even facing the camera.
Which is evidence enough for everyone.

[edit] Dhalphir... I shall redeem myself in the morning, sleep is requisite now. LumberIce, hear me, for in the morn, ye shall be mine.
Floor one (furnaces) of the industrial complex is pretty much complete, just needs some tweaks (mostly visual). The second floor (storage) is mostly done. The underdark/uberdark access is 100% complete, may extend the sky way to other parts of it's self later to make getting to and from easier. I've started on a warp room so I'll but a warp next time I see Vic.
Donation needs:
Cobble is ALWAYS needed: used 3k+ just on the first floor.
Gold is extremely useful for buying supplies (mostly lighting, lightstone)
Also when I first walked into the portal, I saw a HUGE lava lake in front of me while everything was loading. I started walking forward because I figured the ground just hadn't loaded yet.
Nope I appeared right at the end of a large dropoff into said lake. Thankfully there were no Ghasts around and I didn't move far enough to fall off.
Okay, bit of weirdness not related to the Underdark. Over the last few days, a user called SamTheMan has been popping on to the server I frequent at random and sending messages saying he has something for me. The first time, he pointed me to a few diamond blocks, and proceeded to bury me alive. I made it out with a warp command, but he keeps trying to pull this on people. The server has a mod that puts up a dynamic map that's supposed to show everyone who's online and where on the server they are, but this guy doesn't appear on it, and messages to him don't go through, even when I can see the dude's nameplate. What the hell am I dealing with here, and how do I keep him from dropping 20 odd gravel tiles on me again? I'd rather not just log off each and every time.
Using my 19x19x19 vault to start up a un-griefable farming area. Already started the tree farm, planning on doing wheat and maybe even cactus.
Speaking of griefing, the person exploding creepers/faking that they exploded creepers on my mob farm, please stop.
It isn't really all that nice!
Especially when you keep trying at it and destroy all the mob drops I collected for people! I would say it was an accident the first time, but the second is kind of repeating yourself, and I kind of expect the torches magically gone from around the collection zone by now. Besides any decent person would have told someone if they actually managed to get a creeper to destroy the crate they came there for.

I purchased this game mostly because of the strong word of mouth, but also because I like to support indie developers whenever I have some spare cash. Anyways, I've tried playing it several times and just can't get into it. Is there a really dumbed-down tutorial, even more straightforward than what has already been mentioned here? I just feel like I'm a meatbag for zombies and spiders and can't make any progress.
I'm on pain killers due to my back, and they essentially cut my IQ and attention span in half..... sad thing is five year olds have mastered this game and I can't.
If you're trying to move around and do things at night, thats your first mistake.
For at least the first several days of your time in Minecraft, you won't be doing much else but building a safe base. Safety, in Minecraft, is light. While Monsters can get into your base even while lit up if they can, they won't actually SPAWN inside there, whereas anywhere its dark, they will. This means during the day you are free to work outside, but during the night time you need to be inside and you need to be working by a lot of torchlight.
I'm unreasonably excited about the possibilities when Notch gets a modding API in the game.
I have so many fantasies about stuff from Dwarf Fortress I'd like to implement.
I've been skimming through both the Modding and the Suggestions sub-forums on the official Minecraft forums and people have been coming up with incredible amounts of good, feasible ideas. I really can't wait for an API, either.

I started playing on the underdark as I normally do on a single player map. Build a hut, acquire resources and then build awesome crazy structures.
But before I even made it very far into the acquire resources stage I started to naturally feel a role growing up around my little blocky character. I am now playing as a loner hunting monsters and exploring dark caverns destroying any evidence of my existence as i go.
Who knows where I'll end up next or whether I'll show my face in civilization again.
Also, is there a way to turn off hovering names in SMP? If you're trying to hide from other characters it makes it very difficult.
The day someone mods these into the game will be the last day I ever play MC.
Jesus fuck.
Stop it. just now. please for the love of humanity. Everyone, dont blink, and dont stare into its eyes, just watch... and above all. Do. Not. Blink.
Man and I just recalled they can feed on the energy of light sources, effectively turning them out.

summary of changes to LumberIce
-New Town hall! Front area largely designed by me, including a nifty Wishing Well that transports donated goods to an area below the floor. Back area, including a Registrar (with names of LumberIce citizens), a Mayor's Office, and crafting area, designed by Gumpy.
-Lots of new development in Upper LumberIce by such lovely chaps as 13thLegion and Dhaval, among others.
-New welcome sign when walking from the Ice Cave warp-in, designed and built by yours truly with consultation and materials help provided by Bendery and Tyberias, and (I'm terribly sorry) the mod whose name starts with K that I can't remember how to spell his name off the top of my head.

So last night was my first evening in Underdark. Aside from a few stray mob deaths in the main area of Lumber Ice, it was pretty smooth. Thanks to Ghlinn and Galaga for helping me get my bearings. I've established a nice little studio apartment in the upper levels of Lumber Ice and am working on a branch mine for minerals. One problem I ran into was that mob spawner room. I can see how one is supposed to stand inside for stuff. Don't remember who was in there when I warped in, but I got mobbed by invisible zombies and skeletons. Is that normal? Assuming I can get some string and feathers, I'll be gearing up as a monster hunter (I also play Monster Hunter).
Anyhoo, I'll probably be popping into Underdark here or there depending on whether my laptop can run mc multi or not. If anyone needs a new recruit for adventuring/development just let me know. I can probably be of more use once I gather some mats.
Just banned him a bit ago, he wasn't that good of a griefer for sure. didnt even set forest fires.
edit: I never got a chance to look underground, I hear he was messing around down there, so no clue of real damage yet.
MAJOR damage to pumpkin pirate cove and surrounding townships. Just came back from a weeks holiday and see a message from Frel saying there's a griefer around, assuming the worst I have a poke around. No theft, just destruction. Underground forest farm 20x20 trees up in smoke with no saplings to replant, whole farm layers blown up. My 25x25x60 mob farm is ruined as well with a nice little message from him. Topside quite a few fires, he would've been hacking or had access to heaps of supplies cus he put a heap of iron blocks around, little iron crosses like some KKK nut.

Current belief is that invisible mobs are caused by someone in the area having difficulty set to "peaceful" under options.
Good luck monster hunting! There's still plenty of wild areas to be tamed. Say hey to Nairagorn if we're ever on at the same time.

Oh, I can kind of imagine now how that would work. What was the bedrock blocking off?
The room mods would hang out in.
Step 1: Make a platform above the tower.
Step 2: Warp away so new block load.
Step 3: Warp back so the old blocks have to load.
Step 4: Leap of Faith
Step 5: ......
Step 6: PROFIT

There has been a small one for a while... that one looks bigger tho. Maybe just expanded. There was a sign marking it too, was possibly removed.
Also, does anyone want to join the church of Indie, the new church I made in the ice caves? If you want me to explain it I will.
