The only thing that D:s me is a rather minor nerd thing (Final Chapter spoiler):
Wouldn't being shot in the face with a sweet potato moving at ~350 m/s still be fatal? Upscaling from your typical 9x19 round to your typical tuber is something like a 40-fold increase in mass - a knit hat is one thing since the low mass and highly-mallable nature means the majority of any deformation is going to be on the hat's side, but the potato's sturdy and heavy enough that it can still cause a crapload of damage.

I gotta' say, though, what IS neat about this problem is that even if the writers might not've understood just how much energy a sub-sonic spud might be carrying, the animators sure as hell did given just how violently Yomial got blown off his feet. :D

It's pretty funny seeing you all go crazy about this game without going into detail.

I've ordered it from Amazon, but it looks like it'll take a while to reach me. Due to the whole them being in the UK and me being in Denmark.

This game came completely out of nowhere for me and just cemented itself as a timeless classic in my book.

I am honestly stunned. The animations and art direction are FANTASTIC.
Every single character just has so much....well....CHARACTER!

Hmmm, I'd forgotten that it was a half as opposed to a whole (that or it's a really weird-shaped potato). I was using 320 grams as my base after moisture loss from cooking and whatnot, so 180 grams makes that just a 20-fold mass increase - taken with the velocity I decided to use, that gives about 9.8 kJ of kinetic energy.

Hmm. Factoring in the effective surface area of the potato as compared to the bullet (I'm calling it at 25x) and its material composition, I suppose HALF of a potato might be surviveable. TECHNICALLY surviveable, at any rate - considering the amount of energy being applied to the face, though, there'd be a good chance the neck would be broken from the whiplash, potential blindness, so on. Whether that'd affect Yomial's ability to control his body is another question (but considering how the ending went, it seems it either didn't leave permenant damage or they've got some crazy med-tech that can heal such damage.

Yomiel gets pretty smashed in the 'fate changed' ending, after all. He immediately blacks out after being hit in the face and stabbed through in the back (what OH and S dude designed those lampposts?), and it takes his future Ghost to puppet his body along until he wakes up mid-dive, only to get crushed by a giant... Milo.

It also depends on how well Lynne cooked the potato. :D

But yeah, I agree. Fucking hell, what an amazing game. I'm glad I managed not to spoiler myself at all.

Trust me, you will love this. It's basically sci-fi comedy drama noir of the highest caliber. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SPOIL YOURSELF, this is probably the most spoiler-related game I've ever seen and your experience would be absolutly destroyed if you succumbed to reading those details.

If someone spoils the mystery for you, you are legally allowed to shoot him, I think.

It has been a very long time since a game made me play it 7 hours in a row from 1am till 8am in the morning Peewi.
It's a gem. If I think about it, I hadn't even HEARD of this game till about a week ago and now I basically want to shove it into every DS I see.

And I think I came up with it when GTA4 was pretty new and Too Human came out. I decided the main character in that looked exactly like Brucie with blue glowing stuff in the face.
    That's where the photoshopping began!

Man, I know I was sort of meh about the music earlier, but the more I've been listening to it the more I'm absoluty loving it. Maybe it's just the right style working alongside that particularly charming and distinct audio coding that Capcom uses, but it's simply wonderful, to the point where while having some lucid dreams this morning it started to play at the most...appropriate stage. :winky:
]Creepy as fuck, but I swear on my mother's life it's absolutly true. That is some fucking impressive music for it to actually surge up in your unconscience with a good degree of accuracy.

Especially Yomiel & Sissel, their friendship really choked me up.

Someone on NeoGAF said they saw it in Toronto somewhere, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet. Although checking the availability of EBGames stores after entering your postal code tells me of a few stores near me. But they're wanting $35. Hmmm.....

The March date makes me wonder if it's just to add French manuals and dual language boxart before it's in all the other stores, but if EBGames has it, that wouldn't make sense.

Neat game. The animation sure is pretty.

Got up to Ch7 or 8 I think.
Just saw the video of Sissel's death.

Well gee, I guess I figured out one of the plot twists. I'm assuming that Sissel wanted to die, for whatever reason. Y'know, seeing as he sat there and didn't even react to the first shot.

I hope it's a red herring or something. Because if they're legitimately holding on to that as one of their "Holy shit" moments, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. Seeing as how screamingly obvious it is. Hell, I was shocked that nobody even bothered to comment on it. I suppose Sissel gets a pass since he's still in pseudo-amnesia mode, but the cops?

Also, for whatever reason, it's kind of weirding me out that this is apparently in the same universe as the PW games. It doesn't really feel like it is at all, like I find it hard to believe Edgeworth is walking around out there. Either way though, it's still pretty awesome.

Kinda weird seeing almost the exact same type of animation as Another World from the old NES days. Weird, but it looks great. Also digging all the characterization coming from the animations alone. I didn't know how the humor and stuff would play out, but I'm only on something like chapter 4 and the game's already gotten some good laughs out of me. Character designs are also really stylish and distinctive.

I beat it several days ago in a single sitting. For any of you still on the fence, you really need to get off of it and just buy a copy of Ghost Trick. If you want further details, I have my review here.

Also, I really need to get around to doing a second playthrough. The amount of foreshadowing that takes place regarding certain twists is insane. Particularly halfway through the game when
"Sissel" is unable to read any of the blackboards in the prison. The second his real identity is revealed it was totally a 'slap my forehead" moment. No wonder he can't read.

It's a shame to hear the game is doing poorly in Japan. Was it not received well or just no one gives a damn?

Finished. I liked it. I think my expectations where a little higher than they would have been if not for the "freak out" posts in the thread but it was worth it.

I think the thread title should include the fact that if you click on any spoilers you are ruining the experience.
I liked how every time I thought my theories were correct the game would throw something that would throw me off. I was slightly disappointed by the meteor but that in no way diminished the enjoyment I got out of the story. I knew there was going to be a twist involving the past having already been manipulated before the game started but that part was still awesome. Who I thought "Ray" was changed a dozen times but at no point did I think it was Missile.

I think Shu must have been watching Back to the Future and then wondered what if Einstein was the protagonist.

The pacing of this game was by far the best I've seen of a Japanese adventure game. I loved the Phoenix Wright games but sometimes they could drag.
