It's a shame to hear the game is doing poorly in Japan. Was it not received well or just no one gives a damn?
It sold around 38K in its first week, which I don't think is that bad considering it's a new adventure game IP. By comparison Gyakuten Saiban for GBA sold 23K its first week.

Funny how games that bomb in Japan do absurdly well in America.

Not always. Sakura Wars V bombed in both countries.
So did Growlanser V. (Is five cursed?)

Picked this up today and played until the end of Chapter 2. It's got that same "Just one more segment before bed" addictiveness that Ace Attorney has.
For anyone who's been having trouble finding this in stores: Fry's is advertising it for $25 till the 20th (if you have a Fry's near you). So not only do they carry it, they're advertising it.
Still haven't found this game. EB claimed that they'll get it in today, so here's hoping. If it doesn't show up by the end of the week, I'll probably order it or something.

Picked mine up on Friday, they had 3 left after I bought mine. Saw it in the ad and wondered what this game was about. Came here to find this thread and you guys sold me on this game. I just saved the dog and now went back to the junkyard. I was wondering two things. First, am I missing parts of the story if I save the person from dying too fast? Second, during the parts where the game hints that you should go somewhere. If I spend too long looking around or waiting will it allow me to do so?
I think I went a little cross-eyed during the whole time travel explanation at the end and had a tiny problem following it completely. But still...
Damn.
The only thing I'm a bit torn on is the fact that the whole fate/timeline/destiny of all those people... was all controlled by... a cat and a dog. I'm not sure if it's ridiculous, or ridiculously awesome. Probably both.
Bloody great game in the end. Between playing this and 999, I don't think my brain can handle any more utter brain raping.

No, you won't miss anything, anything that happens in the 4-minutes-ago-world you've already seen in the establishing cutscene.
When the game hints to go somewhere standing around won't screw you over unless you're in the 4-minute-ago-world.
Is there any foreshadowing for Yomiel's fiance? She just seems to come out of nowhere. Some searching brings up that Sissel is named after her, at least in the japanese text since I don't remember that line at all in the english one.

Yomiel mentions it fairly explicitly at some point while you're talking to him. He says by the time he had enough power to walk out of the morgue, his fiancee had already comitted suicide to be with him
Hooray, picked up the game today. And am already on Chapter 13. Holy shit this game is good.
I'm tempted to just keep playing, but glancing at this thread tells me I'm coming up on some awesome stuff, so I have to stop so that I actually get some sleep tonight.
The best part of this music is how awesome the first ~10-20 seconds are. It was used to great effect during the game: awesome climactic event, then dissolve to narration text on black screen as this music starts up.
So I just started the game and I'm not too clear on the rules of the fiction. So I can't possess dead people who have been dead for over a day, and I cannot possess my own corpse. Are these rules one and the same? Have I been dead for over a day and that is why I can't possess myself, or is it because it's me? I can't possess myself (hard set rule) but I can possess others because I am "special"?
Technically you can possess yourself, but as the intro demonstrates nothing happens. There are reasons, and they're consistent, but the details don't come until much later.

you sold a game today, gentlemen.
now to avoid this thread for the next 5 days till it arrives.

FFFFFFFFF great deal for those on the fence

Loving this game so much, the core gameplay mechanic is ingenious.
I'm enjoying the soundtrack, but I don't know if I've already heard this game's Cornered and I've been too busy solving puzzles.
This is this game's "Cornered".

On a related note, the music that plays when you first talk to Jowd is probably my favourite track so far.
