the prison break. Taking a while, and a bit stuck, but I think I just need to experiment more.
Five bucks says that just like I did you're either over-thinking the situation or under-estimating just what you can do in that situation. Couple'a hints, since to be honest that was my least favorite bit of the game:
Jowd might not look it, but he's athletic as fuck and can get into allllll kinds of places.
The stairs to the upper-right section are a death trap: you'll NEVER be able to get up there and/or move around without being spotted.
If you've gotten all the way to the lower-right, you've already messed around with the key to completing this particular bit, and the rest is cake compared to the midpoint of this puzzle.
That segment (I think it was chapter 8 or 9) was only frustrating at the start for me because
Jowd tells you to go for the spoon rather than the other bunk, which is just misleading.
On a related note, the music that plays when you first talk to Jowd is probably my favourite track so far.
Actually, you go for the spoon before the stealth bit begins; it's the only way to get back up from the execution chamber to the cells
No, not that, I swear when it comes to directing Jowd for the first time he tells you to go for the spoon.
He only used it as an example. "For example, if you direct me to the spoon, I will move to the spoon". It was a little misleading, but going for the spoon certainly isn't the first thing I tried.
But yeah, figuring out the very first move was the hardest part, for me.

Yeah, that's what I meant, thankfully it didn't take long for me to realise a better plan.
This is one of those games that could in theory have a sequel, but doing so would completely spoil the plot of the first game, which would be a tragedy.
Beat it last night. was really enjoying playing it during my train ride into and back from work but i had to finish it up at home last night as i was in the 'mind asplode' ending chapters.
Awesome game...i hope there is a sequel. Remember :
We actually have 2 possible manipulators for a sequel. Jawod, who was pierced by the rock and sissel, who retained the aura.
Why is that police commisoner scratching his feet all the time?!?!?

Chapter 5
Yep, Lynne died again. At least it wasn't another assassin, and countering the Rube Goldberg machine with one of your own was cool. I think this was the first puzzle in the game where you're really not supposed to figure it out on the first try.
Thinking about it, Sissel would almost certainly have been given a name other than Sissel by his new family. A sequel could just use that name instead, and never mention the name Sissel anywhere.
Of course, that would mean completely sidelining Yomiel, which also wouldn't make sense, especially since he's probably the only person left who remembers the original timeline and still has a core, since everyone else's deaths were completely retconned out of the new timeline instead of being directly averted. If anything big went down and Sissel needed help, he almost certainly would attempt to contact Yomiel.
Ok I have a really bad habit of accidentally clicking spoilers, and then someone spoiled 999's huge twist in that thread by not even using spoilers, so judging by the comments in this thread I think I'm going to just (sadly) leave it completely for now until I finish the game. I already know that HUGE SHIT of some kind or another goes down in a particular chapter.

But Jowd kept all his memories about everything that happened, didn't he? Since he went back in time along with Sissel and Yomiel? He'd probably just call the cat "Sissel".
And yes, for the love of god, don't click these spoilers if you haven't finished the game. Knowing that huge shit goes down in a particular chapter isn't a big deal though, because huge shit goes down in almost every single fucking chapter.
OH MY GOD SISSEL IS THE PARK CULPRIT AND IS STILL "ALIVE"
That information hit like a runaway train.
And the train just entered a station called "Mind Fuck" and will then move on to "Mind asplode" station shortly after.
I figured something like that was going to happen when they mentioned the whole "ghosts can look like whatever they want" thing earlier. Still, holy fucking shit. Just hit Chapter 15 as well, and this whole ZOMG thing.
Oh, look, my copy of 999 just arrived from Amazon. Man, I'm going to be scraping bits of brain out of the walls for weeks.

Oh, right, good point, I had forgotten about that. And I guess Missile would get to keep them as well.
Edit: Although, the only other time that sort of retcon happened was when Lynne's death was prevented by saving someone else before that, and she was already cored due to a different death at that point. The writers could go any direction they wanted at this point, I think.

I think it's implied that Lynne at least doesn't have her memories, but yeah, they could probably go either way if a sequel actually happened.
I'm not getting my hopes up about a sequel, but it would be so awesome if it happened. Sorta like TWEWY, I guess, although I don't really know if they can do a real sequel for that.

Chapters 6 and 7
Whoa fuck what
Lynne's deaths keep getting more and more ridiculous.
Apparently you need to save someone's life four times to get them to explain their essential backstory to you
I think this game might be racist against blue people.

You know what would be better than a sequel? Letting Takumi Shu do another completely original game. Start throwing his name in the title and starting using it as a brand.
I haven't popped this in yet, but I can already tell from the way people here are talking (well, spoiler-tagging with vague gushing outside the tags). Has the past year been fucking great for narrative DS games, or what? Edgeworth, 999, Ghost Trick...
I'm not getting my hopes up about a sequel, but it would be so awesome if it happened. Sorta like TWEWY, I guess, although I don't really know if they can do a real sequel for that.
I think it would be far easier to do a TWEWY sequel than one for this
TWEWY and Ghost Trick Spoilers:
Joshua mentions shibuya isnt the only city with that kind of situation. A sequel wouldn't have to involve any of the same characters (except perhaps Joshua And Hanekoma), but a new city with new reapers/rules/etc.
Meanwhile in ghost trick everything happened because of the tezmit meteor. Hard to replicate that kind of story without keeping the current characters, and the story for the characters ends quite well and would probably be easily ruined by a sequel.

Just finished it myself, Klyka you weren't kidding about things only getting crazier.
Fantastic ending, unless something pops into my head later I believe everything is wrapped up nicely, didn't see the real identities of Sissel or Ray of Light coming, bravo.
Too be honest far earlier into my playthrough I was expecting the end to be some unwinnable situation (which I guess is half true, Yomiel survived but being crushed isn't nice), then later I predicted a battle of manipulation against Yomiel, but changing the park incident was a great way to conclude.
Overall it's hard to fault the game, sure, there's a few mean puzzles, but the mechanics are great, the characters are likable, great music/animation and there's one of the best stories (and plot twists) I've seen in a while.
My only real gripe is that the text always uses closing quotation marks at the start of a word, and this game uses quotation marks a lot. And that's a really small fucking gripe.
So a definite GOTY contender for me.

Chapter 8 and 9
It probably helps when writing a mystery story, but it's still not any less aggravating that every character has an aversion to giving a straight answer to every goddamn question about my past.
Looks like Lynne is in the middle of a situation where someone else is in the most danger, for once.
Giant Bomb did a quick look of Ghost Trick. I started watching it, but turned it off about 10 minutes because I'd rather see this stuff while playing the game, even if what they're showing is early on (chapter 2).

Looking back over the thread I've noticed some nice fanart crop up already, but I'm kinda hoping somebody will do multiple panels showing Cabenela's dance in full. That was easily my favourite animation in the game.

Human manipulations.
Plus the foreshadowing with the Rube Goldberg device aaaargh this game is amazing.
fuck fuck fuck fuck
Oh man, it's one of THOSE games? I remember when Phoenix Wright came out...that was a simultaneously dark ass and awesome Christmas time.

I had a problem with this too, was stumped for awhile. I don't know why I missed it, though.
The one thing I wish Ghost Trick had was even more tricksy puzzles. Most were pretty easy.
(Admittedly, after about three do-overs for the difficult ones)
Awesome game...i hope there is a sequel. Remember :
I wish we saw more of him :T
This game is fucking incredible, just finished the 2nd real "segment"
The writing I expected to be top notch and hilarious, but what really surprised me was the quality of all the animation.
