So I am an American college student in Florida and I am growing tired of the States. In the military I got to travel Europe and the middle east and I understand the world is a whole lot bigger than MSNBC and FoxNews would like to admit. Therefore I am seriously considering moving to the Vancouver area. Unfortunately my only contact with anyone from Canada comes from an old WoW guild were a few folks lived around Toronto, One had a cow as a pet. So I am just wondering if anyone who has lived around the area could tell me what to expect as an American Expat making a permanent move to Canada. I've read up on the requirements to become a citizen, but I am looking for more information on the In's and Out's of the surrounding area of Vancouver.
My major is Education and minor in Physics. (I'm looking for a high school type teaching position)
I have no additional language skills other than some not so useful Arabic.
I'm not going to lie the name that follows BC had a lot to do with it. Along with why I posted here. I figured this was my best chance to meat "real" people from the area.
vancouver is a great city, but i'd hold tight a bit before moving back there. there's going to be a housing crash soon due to the oversupply of condos, but the economy hasn't quite caught onto it yet. look into it, keep your eyes on the property market and be ready to strike while the iron is at its coldest

I don't think the market will crash. I think people have been saying it will crash ever since the olympics, and it hasn't yet, so it won't. It is ridiculous and the ridiculous bubble isn't going to burst.

I really fucking hope it does though jesus christ
nah, it will. supply is far greater than demand and it can't last, especially when there's still so much construction going on. yeah, it's a very desirable city, and people have grown used to living in a place with a strong economy due to this desirability, so they are holding on to the notion that they can still wield dangerously high figures. but i've got a friend who has now had their pad on the market for a year without significant bites. that's a hell of a long time for a spacious and chic apartment new west. at some stage, something's gotta give

You might have more luck with your question in the Help & Advice subforum, rather than here in SE
But if you're looking for constructive input rather business as usual: cocks and dicks, you definitely want to post in H/A
