Recommend me some good films (Thriller, action)

Hello H/A

It's been a while since I've actually seen a recommend me thread on here so I hope it's still the done thing!

Short story: My flatmate and I like to relax many an evening with a film. Unfortunately we seem to have watched every film in the world. Well, not entirely but close enough. We're struggling to find good films that neither of us have seen yet.

We prefer action or thriller films but also can get into most genres. My flatmate has a short attention span so anything "dull" (not much action going on) will probably be dismissed.

SO, H/A please could you throw out some suggestions for some oft overlooked great films. We'll look at older films as well as brand new.

I'll not list everything we've seen but it's a safe bet that big cinema releases in the past couple years have been watched! Some more obscure ones may have slipped past though.

    Equilibrium
The Butterfly Effect (possibly you've seen it)
    The Protector
    Ong Bak: The Tai Warrior
Serenity (but hopefully only after finish Firefly, and you've possibly already seen it)

If you like action comedy, Saolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle are amazing imports from China by a guy named Stephen Chow

I know there's more but I can't think of it right now.

Edit: The Long Kiss Goodnight. Great Film.

Hear my warnings, unbelievers. We have raised altars in this land so that we may sacrifice you to our gods. There is no hope in opposing the inevitable. Put down your arms, unbelievers, and bow before the forces of Chaos!

If you're willing to sit through subtitles (or dubs, I guess), then check out The Host and The Good, The Bad, and The Weird. Both fantastic good times Korean movies.

And watch The Legend of Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2). Jackie Chan's best straight-up action movie by a huge margin.

I forgot about Black Mask. I'll second that. It was a great movie.

Also, Drunken Master 2 is not as good as Rumble in the Bronx... But I will admit it's a better straight up action movie.

There is a sequel called B-13 Ultimatum. It's basically more of the same.

Flash Point (pardon the crappy music... i can't find an actual trailer)

For more Donnie Yen goodness check out SPL - Sha Po Lang (I think you can also find it as 'Kill Zone')

Flash Point is an awesome movie, but there are only about 3 or 4 fight scenes.

The life of David Gale. Great thriller & most people I talk to haven't heard about it.

Thanks guys, some great suggestions coming in. I've seen quite a few but not all so that's good! We've actually seen B-13 Ultimatum but not the original so probably give that a go and The life of David Gale looks good for a pop too.

In fact there are a solid few films to try here but do keep it all rolling in! I definitely appreciate it.
