I've got a Droid X that can do Pandora radio, but I dislike FM Transmitters. My car has a CD player and that's prety much it. Is there an alternative to an FM transmitter that I can use to get my Droid to play it's audio in the car speakers? I know in my focus I can use the Bluetooth for that, but my '06 Jetta doesn't have bluetooth...

I know you can get stereo-insert-dealies with aux. in jacks so you can just run a headphone-style cord from your device to the car, but I have no idea how much they cost.

if your car has the standardized single stereo deck slot then you should be able to get a new deck for $80 to $130 that has an aux input. Then you'd just need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and could plug in anything that has a headphone jack. Places like futureshop and bestbuy will do the installation for you if you're not inclined to do it yourself, but that'll add about $50 to the bill.
Having used a few FM transmitters I can totally agree with the no fm transmitters sentiment.
An aux in or a USB port in a new stereo is your best bet. Depending on what you want, it will cost you. It really depends on how much you want to spend. When I replaced mine, I bought my equipment from Crutchfied and had Best Buy install it.
You might not want to go this route, but alot of aftermarket head units DO have a aux port in the back of the unit. You can take it out, and then run the aux cable through the dash somewhere to plug your droid into. It's pretty ghetto, but works out pretty nicely.
I don't know my way around Jettas, but before you run out and throw in an aftermarket stereo, check to see whether or not all your trip computers and such are tied into the stock head unit.
