Damnit I'm away for a night and a morning and THREAD EXPLOSION
Also I now have my PC hooked up to my TV.
It is glorious.
I am now thinking of buying the premium tickets for GSL for HQ goodness.
I could potentially restream for people too *cough*
You should do that and archive them so that I don't have to stay up till 2am
I have an extra pc I've wanted to hook up to the tv for a while but can't pull the trigger, I think I want to get a wireless mouse/keyboard before I do.
Just a quick reminder that we should keep the "Race to Diamond" in mind as I'd love to do it too, don't want it to get lost from the last thread
If there is serious interest in this, as well as participating, I can help organize it. It might make for a nice long-term charity event, and I think that we should explore it further.
Yeah, I'm not letting that go to the old thread. I hate zvzs. Let it be known. More than any other match up I feel like I'm a disadvantage 100% of the time. If I have some roaches, he has enough speedlings to surround and kill them. And if speedlings win a fight against roaches, then it's basically gg right there. Any roaches you rebuild will be too few in number to matter and he can rally speedlings into your base until you quit. Or if I have roaches, he has more roaches. Or just as I'm sending in a few mutas to attack his workers, I run into his muta ball that just so happens to be a few mutas more. Or I fly into his base and see hyras and know my mutas are a failed investment. Or he'll just 7 pool with spine crawler rush. I'm just really bad at zvzs. Someone needs to teach me the basics of that match up.
The key is really keen scouting with speedlings to know when to whore drones and when to bulk up. That's probably what makes it most fun for me. Good speedling control allows you to react to your opponent's construction and tech in a way that isn't possible in ZvP and ZvT.
+ Hatch first is reasonable because you can defend most early ling rushes with drones
+ Early speedlings are clutch to establish map control and scouting
+ Watching for your opponent's eggs tells you when to drone and when to make army
+ Be aggressive about upgrades when you can fit them in but be careful about sacrificing resources for army when you'll need it
+ Typically the match will boil down to who wins the first roach push, so be aware of your opponent's army and his strength relative to yours

I thought that Bitters lesson was to not expand until you had roach speed & burrow. Or was that to not take a 3rd until then? I also though I remembered an early carapace upgrade...

That sounds like the ZvP lesson with Machine. Ret's build picks up evos sometime when his lair is going up and he doesn't pick up burrow in favor of more army. I actually heavily disagree with the lack of burrow since it can keep roaches alive and gives your infestors the ability to be great harassment tools (Ret loses a game during the video because of counter-burrow infestors by his opponent).

I check by the thread to see if I've its at page 49 or 50 yet only to see it sniped at 48? Worse yet, you didn't use the gratuitous size 7 green font to announce the new thread link. Look how many extra posts happened after the new thread was created.

The Race to Diamond, not to step on anyone's ideas, is a stupid idea for a charity event but an excellent idea for something just to do for fun.
The Rumble in the Bronze was great but don't get carried away and think you can turn anything into a charity event just by mentioning donations.
its not as straightforward as a grudgematch, I need to think a little bit and see what various previous team member think of formats, and bounce some ideas around.
It has potential, it just needs to be organized correctly, and the boards are not the place for that discussion. Too many cooks. If you're interested in helping organize, PM me and I'll do my best to get you involved. Just be advised that this is additional *work* in your busy lives, and if you have difficulty committing to deliverables, please be honest with yourself and commit to only what you can handle.
There seems to be significant interest in a structured "Race to Diamond", and I have some ideas of my own for structure, Seguer has mentioned a reasonable tournament format that could be part of the program.
Anyone got any tips on how to get the "Aces high" Achievement on the last level on hard?
The air mission is generally easier, either by mind controlling a bunch of brood lords for a fun and cheesy win, or else putting vikings in the right spots (~3 on patrol over the lava behind your mineral line will make a subtle but incredibly important difference).

Did you choose to destroy air so you're getting nydus worms? If so, nydus's make the encounter significantly easier along with the psi disrupter tech. I ended up setting up a bunker wall on each side of the base, lining it with tanks, scvs, and psi disrupters, and went out with banshee hit squads to take out the nydus worms.
With that set up, it's just a matter of good macro (dual/triple factory/rax/starport) to replenish when kerrigan gets all bitchy and breaks your wall.

I destroy Air...but I also have a save where I went the other option. However I didn't get the control Zerg tech and only got the slow Zerg building (that's the Psi-distruptor) I think.
From What I understand you can't even use that artifact once.. because you use it once at the end of the cut scene.

56" of GSL goodness would be pretty glorious.
Don't even need to buffer now either, and full season access is 9.99, which is pretty darn cheap.
Damn shame.
well to snipe it from dover you kinda have to blow your load a little early
So I figured I'd learn something from him.

Joe's Stream.
It's not particularly something you can show/stream games with, as they have to be laddering, unless the participants can stream?

Mr. Bitter's ZvZ lesson with Ret is a pretty good guide:

I am going to draw them making out.
passionately.
this must exist
and geoff's has to be like
flexing
Let me try and explain:
For simplicity, let's say we have 1 person per league (their names will be the league names)
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Diamond
(+Masters? if we can get some pros)
Every week (or two weeks, whatever), each person plays a Bo3 against the person above them, eg.
Bronze vs Silver Bo3
Silver vs Gold Bo3
Gold vs Platinum Bo3
Platinum vs Diamond Bo3
Diamond vs Masters Bo3
Problems with this: Bronze gets shortchanged (only one set of Bo3), Masters (pros) only really "defend"
Everyone else has to play two Bo3s, which may be a lot for people.
If we have a lot of different people in different leagues, we also need to figure out what games will be played each week/fortnight etc?

That's kind of silly.
Fun idea, though. I'd be up for it since I'm still a lowly platipus.
I can feel it bubbling up within me.

very nice to be thinking of the charity! but there would be a lot better ways to apply that effort i think
