Yeah, I can only assume something is up. He played like a retard and I won even though I messed up my build.

Dhal this book is pretty awesome. I'm reading through the history of competitive sc, all names I know but it's nice to read the order it all happened in.
apparently Flash (not that this was that long ago) was called 'that little bastard terran' when he was 15 and getting started. I love that nickname.

Screenshot of a test I did with my score overlay.
Does it look a bit big? I may need to reduce its height a little, but this way it is really easy to read?
(note: that screenshot is how it will look on the stream)

I would say it's a bit big. maybe prominent is the better word. I like having the info there but maybe off to the side.
2-0 tonight. almost played more but I figured why ruin it, I am pretty tired. but this book really made me want to play glad I did, beat a T on steppes with a light contain but -not- ignoring defense at home/expo (something playing with dangerisk helped me with) and then beat a toss by reading an early expand and basically doing the same thing but better.
Not sure about international viewers online, but I'm sure the time difference is a major factor there. As for Korea, 500 people showed up to the GSL Code S opening ceremonies in a rented out stadium that seats 5000.
50 people showed up to Boxer's Code S matches That number was really surprising to me, Boxer usually draws pretty sizable crowds.
It's not looking too hot in Korea. Dunno I feel bad for Tasteless and Artosis and all the people at Gom who've put time into GSL but the whole SC1 vs SC2 and Blizzard/GOM vs Kespa deal is just bad news and turns a lot of Korean fans away from SC2. But at the same time I don't think Blizzard and GOM did a very good marketing job but to be honest it may have been a nearly impossible situation to begin with.
I guess we'll see how it all pans out but it's gonna be tough. I wonder how much more money Blizzard is willing to pour into this, as well as the other sponsors.
There was some Fomos article on how SC1 and SC2 need to both do well for either to survive or even flourish and I think that's pretty accurate. If SC2 dies then how lenient will Blizzard be in dealing with OGN/MBC, the SC1 broadcasting networks who are currently in a legal battle with Blizz. If SC1 dies then there's gonna be a lot of hate from SC1 fans toward SC2. I don't think fans will immediately jump to SC2 if Blizzard wins in court and decides to end SC1 broadcasting. For things to work out probably SC1 has to slowly fade out while SC2 fades in, with an overlap period of a few years.
Also don't put too much stock into how big SC is in general in Korea. A lot of people on TL see the fangirls and televized matches and all that and think SC is huge. Then they go on to post some dumb thread :P It's not huge. It's got a solid following but I've heard it from some Koreans that it's comparable to like a second tier sport in North America or the WWE, with an added novelty factor cause it's a computer game. Basically SC is big enough to get on TV but not necessarily what you'd call mainstream.
If Korea doesn't work out then I hope Blizz switches their focus to Europe and North America. Germany in particular seems pretty good. But who knows what's coming!

If what you say is true, the Shaolin and the Wu-Tang could be DANGERISK.
Ret said on MrBitters's stream the other night that he was considering going back to Europe because there's pretty much nothing to do between GSLs in Korea except practise. There basically aren't any other tournaments going on except the occasional GOM or Gisado one. It seems that SC2 esports hasn't taken hold in Korea in the grassroots fashion that it has in Europe and NA. It's GSL or bust, which probably isn't the optimal scenario.
Don't mind Lemming he's living in a $2700 apartment in New York while still in school and has time to worry about things like centered score overlays as opposed to worrying about making rent ^_________^

Yeah that's true. If the thing starts at the grassroots level with local tourneys at the LAN center and builds up momentum with more and more sponsors coming in, that's how you know you have a good product. Not like in Korea where GSL sponsors like Intel are putting in money with no real information on if there is an audience for SC2 other than "Hey, SC1 did pretty sweet!"
Actually that's maybe how Blizzard should have done it. Put on a ton of small tourneys in Korea with a decent cash prize and slowly build up interest. At the same time don't intrude on SC1 and stay off the television except for a couple of small tournaments now and then. Eventually some famous BW pros who aren't in their prime anymore would make the switch even just to check it out and play for fun and that would bring over their fans.

It's a bit big but mostly the color palette is jarring. If you want it to stand out that's okay I think, but if you want it to look slick just match the green buttons around it, or maybe the blues in the replay box.

The replay box won't normally be there as I'll be casting Live. Maybe if it is smaller the colours won't jar so much..
I suppose we don't have to see the menus etc. I can still click on them btw, the overlay isn't on my screen, it is only on the broadcast
Just make something that extends that covers the menus but keeps the resources open, I think that would be best

Yeah I'm going for centered, and width out as far right before it covers the player colour/resources.
It's approx 580px in width on my stream.
And reducing the height... I may also try colour replace the blue and see how it looks.

The overlay itself doesn't have to be centered, just the scores. You could have a logo of some sort in the part that covers the menu area, the way the GSL does it sometimes.

Just put a huge dick in the middle of the screen, I think that would be the most elegant overlay

a lot of people probably will
massive
Yeah, and then the colossi are unblocked and he can snipe them.
Either way running was the right call.
Like the last 3 days I've been watching high level Zergs get like 10 Infestors and start NPing Tanks and Thors.
It is brutally effective.
People need to stop calling it the worst ability in the game :P

we've all had those periods of playing retarded and simultaneously being matched up against seemingly pro after pro
They appear to be doing poorly.
And Code S is the main tournament duder. Winner of Code S wins that season's GSL.
Dangerisk: how do they appear to be doing poorly?
I don't know how the BW tournaments did things though, and there certainly didnt seem to be much wrong with it.

sort of like ladder. just never see em.

I don't know if anybody else feels like this but it's REALLY distracting to me that it's not centered at the top
It's where it is because it sits between the menus and the resources :P

I'm with the rodent here, that shit needs to be centered or my OCD sense starts tingling.
Nice and fitting design though.
However I am thinking of extending it out width-ways quite significantly, and centering, while reducing the height so it's not quite so in-your-face..
It's approx 580px in width on my stream.
And reducing the height... I may also try colour replace the blue and see how it looks.
Maybe next revision I'll add that sort of stuff.
