Regarding the big band music: Did an employee from Rare or Nintendo write the Donkey Kong themes? I mean, they are so iconic, but I want to give credit where it is due. I know things blurred during those times, but still.

Doesn't really seem like Koji Kondi's style, so probably someone from rare. If not, then Its someone else at nintendo besides him.
Edit: Some quick wikipedia searching reveals it was some of Rare's in house composers.

Right now I'm assuming 'if you play soft' is referring to the brightness setting. We'll see what happens though, I'd assume Nintendo would want to correct it as soon as possible if it were wrong but then I guess this is Nintendo we're talking about.
Soft is a Japanese abbreviation for software. They meant "if you play games."
And Google's translation software caught that? Huh, alright then.
So of all the announced games, which ones are actually new games and not remakes? Is the Resident Evil game just RE1 remade again?
RE: Mercenaries is just the mode from RE4 and 5, which they'll probably expand upon but I still don't see the point. If Capcom hadn't have decided to really milk the RE series for all its worth (they literally said they want 2 games out each year) then I doubt it would even exist.
RE: Revelations on the other hand is a proper game in the series which is apparently going to take RE4's gameplay and add it to RE1-2's puzzle solving and horror (which I assume means their tense atmosphere, not the other rubbish). Whether that actually happens, I don't know, but considering how bad RE5 was (and how much they promised with it), I'd recommend being cautious.
Oh and Sporky, going by Koei's history, I think we can assume Samurai Warriors is 90% port. I wouldn't be surprised if Ridge Racer is similar as well (this is Namco after all, the guys that ported Ridge Racer 6 to PS3, added some more cars/tracks and renamed it Ridge Racer 7).

Yeah, like I said I don't want to jump to conclusions until they're out and the reviews say "don't bother with this, it's literally the exact same game in 3D." I just wanted to highlight the ones that are developer-confirmed to be ports or remakes.
Also there's a new screen or two of Cubic Ninja:
I wish they'd show us more than one level...but mainly the girl in the cage once again makes me recall Super Meat Boy, which is a good thing.
From the games listed in the OP, red is remake/port:
* One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP
No doubt many of these games reuse assets from previous games, but I have no idea to what extent. Should DOA count as a remake, when it seems to be more of a series remix/new title? Does Nintendogs + Cats count as a remake? To what extent will Animal Crossing give us new content? No idea.
Isn't "One Piece: Unlimited Cruise" a Wii title? I presume this is probably a modified port, also.
I'm most stoked for the unannounced but inevitable New Super Mario Bros 3D.
They can finally put some of those old Mario Land Virtual Boy ideas to work that never saw the light of day.
The 3DS is powerful enough, that I'd like to see a Mario Galaxy port.
i'd rather they made a whole new game with 3D in mind...it just lends itself to 3D mario so well, it'd be a shame if there wasn't a game that incorporated it fully.

Yeah, It's a collection of the two One Piece games the US never got.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to announce F-Zero. It will be so amazing in 3D. Why aren't they making one?
because F-Zero has absolutely no appeal to the casual audience.
I agree though, Nintendo really needs to do a 3D F-Zero - and they should resurrect the track editor from F-Zero 64DD while they're at it. The touch screen would be perfect for building evil twisty tracks to inflict on people.
All this 3DS coverage I'm going is starting to affect my brain. I'm now in a position where the wait for the 3DS is becoming painful. I want this thing why can't I have it yet.

There are two Resident Evil games. Revelations is a new game and Mercenaries is a combination of The Mercenaries modes in RE4 and 5.
Admittedly I never played all the way through Paper Mario 64, but all the screens I saw looked new. Are any/all of these areas from the 64 game?
It was a Rare composer, David Wise.

Nintendo Music Live album, four MP3s, trimmed to just the music (with silence inserted at beginning/end).
And Google's translation software caught that? Huh, alright then.

I hope Revelations is exactly like Resident Evil 5
in every way

Shtick or profound despair? Who knows.
And just to once again plug it shamelessly, keep an eye on this 3DS site I work for, for all the latest news and coverage by yours truly.
It's the go-to site for 3DS, and that's not just what I think, it's what they pay me to think.

These guys are pretty useless for anything info related.

and no games until after tax season! Well, at least I'll have pokémon.
Do you work for a site, too? Currently the one I linked is at talks with Nintendo to see if they'll arrange to send us games and/or handhelds.
Believe me, if I end up one of the first dudes to have a 3DS, I will absolutely gloat about it.
Right to your face.
What's the schedule tonight?
