I have tried playing a few PS2 games on my PS3, and the analog sensitivity on the PS3 analog sticks has really killed the experience.
Take Black for instance. In the PS2, the entire game is a breeze to play - it's arguably the best FPS experience on a PS2, and I have played a ton of FPS games on the PS2.
Played on the PS3, the sensitivity is borked. While the Sixaxis controller is superior to the PS2 in terms of gaming sensitivity, the lack of an ability to adjust its sensitivity ruins the PS2 experience; because the Dualshock and Sixaxis have different analog sensitivities, the games don't transition well. In Black, you move so slowly it's cumbersome, and there's no way to adjust the analog sensitivity.
Basically what I'm asking is - is there a way to adjust the sensitivity for the PS3 controller before booting up the game? Maybe from the Menu of the PS3? Or should I wait until the inevitable adaptor for PS2 controller peripherals (Guitar Hero, for example) comes out and then hook up a PS2 controller to that? I was planning on selling my PS2 and all my stuff with it - I need to know if I should keep a controller for old PS2 games.
possibly a stupid question, but can you not adjust it in the game? i know of some games (gears of war) that let you do that
Well that's the thing about Black. The controls were perfect for the PS2 and they didn't really NEED an adjustment, so the option is nonexistant to adjust controller sensitivity.
I guess there just isn't enough of a PS3 community to care about things like this right now. I searched the Internet for about an hour with no luck.

Try using your old PS2 controller with a ps2-to-USB adapter. Maybe that would fix this issue for you?
