I'd like to play Majora's Mask properly one day. Too bad the only copy I have (Gamecube collection disc) has a habit of hard crashing.
Is the Virtual Console not "proper" or something?
I'm not sure if I understand the question. I don't personally have the VC game.
I'm saying that you should rectify that problem. The loading pauses when you bring up the menu on the GCN disc is annoying as hell, anyway.
I'll get round to it one day. I still need to finish OOT before I do: I've started OOT like, 5 times but it never grabbed me the way WW and TP did.
Of course, at this point you may as well wait and see if they don't give Majora's Mask the 3DS treatment too. Plus, it might be good to see whether or not it's possible to transfer VC games to the next generation Nintendo system, too.

I might well do that. As for VC games transferring over, I'd be very pleasantly surprised if that's going to be possible. If not, well, I don't mind having 10 consoles hooked up anyway (my Gamecube is still out).
this would be incredibly bitchin, but seeing as how nintendo is going to be supply constrained as is, it's highly unlikely they'd be able to allocated enough units to make a collector's edition even if they wanted to.

well they are allowing a single transfer from DSiware to the 3DS, but that might just be because the DSi is being phased out so quickly after it debuted.

With being able to transfer DSiWare purchases to the 3DS I would be very disappointed if you can't transfer at least Virtual Console games from the Wii to the next Nintendo console.

I am more than likely out of luck even if you can because I have an American console with American shop account due to 50/60Hz issues I doubt I'll want to import next time around as Nintendo will finally adopt HD. I thought with the Dreamcast we'd banished the 50Hz beast but Nintendo wanted to drag the 90s out for another decade.
It doesn't matter if I have it on N64, GameCube and erm... pc. Gimme!

GAME IS IN DEVELOPMENT DOES NOT REFLECT FINAL CODE </disclaimer>
Knowing the history of Zelda game development, half the stuff we see in these videos is going to change before launch, much like Majora and TP did only months before.
Okay I know I said I would be stern with Nintendo if the next Zelda game was another Ocarina of Time rehash but it doesn't count if it's literally Ocarina of Time.
Not to mention it killed all sense of exploration. At the age I was, with a timer in the background, I was never going to just take my time and enjoy the scenery, which is something that was a lot of fun in Ocarina, and in most other open-world games.
There would have been better ways to give the feeling of the moon crashing down without actually forcing the player to rush. It would have been far easier to have certain events advance the "time" so when you got to mini-bosses in the dungeons or whatever, it would cut to a scene of the moon getting closer or whatever. So that it was clear that the character was under time constraints, without the player also being forced to hurry.
I was the complete opposite; Majora's Mask is just about the only game where I feel my exploring and dicking around is justified. The fact that you can reset time made sense within the story to explore, as opposed to other games where the world is about to be destroyed or something and the narrative itself gives you some sense of urgency, plus the depth certain sidequests had made me actually enjoy not just running from one story point to the other.
I know that the Ocarina remake is going to end up in this house one way or another, whether I like it or not. So I may give it another shot then.
I like the story and some of the stuff, preordered the original release and everything, but... never did finish it. I can't really explain why, but I think part of it was simple boredom partway through. That, and I think I was stuck in a dungeon, the forest one after becoming Adult Link, without a good idea of where/what I needed to go/do.
Overall, though, I've just not had great experiences with 3D Zeldas, at least until Twilight Princess. That one clicked fairly well with me.
Majora's Mask is one I need to try as well, since my only copy was the faulty version on the Collector's Disc. Pity Nintendo never fixed that somehow.

If you couldn't even get past the Forest Temple then MM is really, really not for you. It's pretty hardcore.
Noted, thanks. I'll stick to watching the wife play that while remaining the dominant NES LoZ/AoL player.

How long has it been since you played Ocarina of Time?
MM is the hardest 3D Zelda game, but there's not a huge difference between it and TP. There's a big difference in design and difficulty curve (i.e., difficulty ramps up much faster in MM), but the hardest parts of TP are not significantly easier than the hardest parts of MM.
My point being, if you've beaten Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask should be within your ability too.

Looks as smooth as butter
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
I would have remembered that.
edit: oh you mean the text between the c buttons. that wasn't very obtrusive. couldn't they have put it somewhere on the bottom screen?

Yeah, that was the best part of the game. The spinner was a wonderful addition to the series.
Then it got dropped like a bad habit after the prison dungeon

In the end, Link turns out to be his own father.
Must be why he's a mute.
I'm hoping they improve it with navi jumping out in your face blocking the view during crucial moments.
Torment is the fucking bicycle bell in Majora's Mask
It would be a good gag to have a cut scene like that and have Links hand push her out of the way.

They could make the moon actually crash into your face
What, really? The Forest Temple in MM was pretty damn easy last time I remember playing it. The one in OOT took longer to beat.
Now the Goron Ice castle Temple, THAT was a hard one to clear.
