My dad has a decent collection of old wargames from the 70s. Civil War, WWII, and a few fantasy and sci-fi ones. He hasn't touched them in years (decades for most of them) and would like to get rid of them to make more room in the house. I've done a little googling, but nothing has jumped out at me, I have 2 main questions.
1) How do I appraise them? Is there a website or anywhere that keeps track of this kind of stuff?
2) How do I sell them? Ebay seems like the obvious answer, but I've never sold anything there.
I don't know where you'd appraise them, but if you do find out how much they're worth, PM me. I LOVES me some old board games, and would be willing buy a couple (especially that WW2 one.)
Here's the first batch. I haven't yet decided what to do, just for curiosity's sake:
Ogre Deluxe Edition
Ogre Bagged Microgame
The Creature that Ate Sheboygan
War of the Ring-Designer’s Edition
Dragonquest 2nd Edition Master Set
Citadel of Blood Subscription Version
Freedom In the Galaxy
Imperium
Rise and Decline of the Third Reich
2nd Fleet
1776
Glory Road: First Battle of Bull Run
Mr. Lincoln’s War: Army of the Potomac
Diplomacy (1976)
Ogre and WOTR should be easy to sell. The rest are probably not worth much at all. You might just post them as a geek auction on BGG, see if anyone bites.
Here's the final list. Most of the the rest were civil war games, many unpunched, which I guess is good for value?
1776
2nd Fleet
Afrika Korps
Baton Rouge
The Battle of Shiloh
Bloody April: The Battle of Shiloh, 1862
Blue & Gray
Blue & Gray II
Campaigns in the Valley
Cedar Mountain: The Prelude to Bull Run, August 9, 1862
Chancellorsville
Chickamauga
Citadel of Blood
The Creature That Ate Sheboygan
Diplomacy
Drive on Washington
Freedom in the Galaxy
Gettysburg (1977 Edition)
A Gleam of Bayonets
Imperium
Ironclads
Jackson at the Crossroads: Cross Keys & Port Republic June 8-9, 1862
Mr. Lincoln's War: Army of the Potomac
Ogre Deluxe Edition
Ogre Microgame
Pea Ridge: The Gettysburg of the West March 7-8 1862
Rise and Decline of the Third Reich
Shenandoah
South Mountain
Stonewall: The Battle of Kernstown
Terrible Swift Sword
War between the States
War of the Ring
Waterloo
The Wilderness Campaign: Lee vs. Grant, 1864
Wilson's Creek
Definitely some interest on the BGG boards. They also pointed me to some shops that look like they will buy lots. I will use their database to try and price some of them as well. It's rough when there's not much data though.
If anyone here wants anything on the list, PM me, and I will let you PA folks have the first crack at them.
I may stop through the boardgames subforum and see if there's interest there, if a thread like that would be allowed in the first place.

I have a friend who had a board game hobby at one point; I'm passing a link to this thread along to him to see if he wants anything.
ceres on
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
This should be a link to my collection on BGG. I've put the condition in the trade condition note, and the price I'm asking in the comment. There's a few more in there, we found another box.
There's also a whole giant box of magazine games in manila folders, but I think those aren't going to be worth my time.
edit: if the trade condition column isn't showing, click columns in the upper left corner and check its box.
Perhaps it's obvious, but I'm missing it. How do we go about making an offer from that list?
For example, I tried following the link through to Afrika Korps, then looking at the BGG marketplace I don't see your username (captaink) beside any of the listings?
One thing you might consider is adding a bit more to your profile. Maybe something in your bio like "I found these games that belonged to my pop and I'm trying to sell them." or something just to add a little more personality/humanity to yourself. Maybe also add in an offer about giving them pictures of anything they're interested in so they can assess the condition for themselves.
edit: nvm the last part I see you did that in the more info section.

This should let you view my sales.
