If you like Generation Kill, you might also like...GO
I really enjoyed watching the HBO miniseries Generation Kill and the documtary Restrepo. The Danish documentary Armadillo was also good. I was wondering if more movies, series or documentaries like these existed. Basically anything that depicts the life of soldiers and modern warfare, either in Iraq/Afhanistan or any place else.

if you haven't already: Band of Brothers and The Pacific
There was also a drama series, on Fox I think, called "Over There" which wasn't terrible. . . I wouldn't say it's as good as Generation Kill, Band of Brothers, or the Pacific, but I found it at least enjoyable.
There's also a drama-doc movie about POGs called "Redacted" that was really good, up until the last 10 minutes or so which was probably the most offensively terrible politically-motivated hippie-bullshit I have ever seen in my entire life, and diametrically opposed to the message and the tone of the rest of the movie. The rest of it is worth watching though, so just watch up until the point where it changes (and you'll know it the instant you see it)

Black Hawk Down or We Were Soldiers. I liked the first couple seasons of The Unit as well.

Hurt Locker follows the same themes as Generation Kill.
Band of Brothers and its spiritual sequel is more of your typical WWII glorification flick.
There is also Jarhead, not as good as Hurt Locker or Generation Kill though.
You can try some documentaries like 'Iraq for Sell'.

I don't want to get into debate but I don't really consider any of the HBO war series to be glorification flicks, especially The Pacific. Glorification films tend to gloss over the human loss aspect of things and focus more on "AMERICA F-YEAH!" and "We're the good guys, watch us brutally kill hundreds of bad guys for the glory of our nation!"
oh another good one is called "No Man's Land" It's a film that takes place in the Bosnian War where a Bosniak and a Bosnian Serb get trapped together in the no man's land between their respective forces, unable to return to their forces for fear of enemy snipers killing them. It won 42 awards, so they must have done something right.
Also, "Stalingrad". It follows a band of Wermacht soldiers in the battle of stalingrad.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try to check most of them out.
I have seen Band of Brothers and The Pacific, now I'm more looking for 'realistic' stuff. But now that I'm talking to a bunch of guys who know their warflicks, anyone ever heard of a Croation (I think) movie that follows a group of soldiers during the last Yugoslavian war? It also had scenes set in WW2. It went like this:
-Soldier lights up a Marlboro with his lighter
-Camera zooms in on flame
-Camera zooms out
-We see a soldier smoking a cigarette...in WW2
I remember seeing it about 4 years ago in Croatia. I think it won a bunch of international awards. It's not No Man's Land (which I will definatly check out, thanks).

In the race for second place, I'll nominate Over There, the FX tv series. I enjoyed its single season.
