DC Universe Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game for the PC and PS3 that puts you in the same universe as some of your favorite heroes and villains from the world of comics, like
Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Joker
Lex Luthor
And, of course, Beast Boy
And what will you be able to do with all these heroes and villains? Pick one to be your mentor!
The Beta ran from July till last week, where a big super fight event turned into a giant server stressing clusterfuck that ended with Brainiac taking over the world.
The main gameplay inspiration is from The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, so if you liked that game, and if you're a City of Heroes/Villains fan that always wanted to have some name brand super heroes around, well you're in luck!
So when do I get to play this game, you ask? Why, today! The game is available now for a small fee of $49.99
The service, however, isn't free. Its a $15/month to month subscription (rather than microtransactions) OR if you want to be super cool and play on the PC you can get a Lifetime (of the game) subscription for JUST $199.99! What a value! (If the game lasts longer than 18 months).
WE PLAYIN THIS, our server is

So much destruction, some of it, in fact, ultimate.
It was like
You are the Hulk
Do you see that thing? Do you want to smash it?
Because you can
you can smash it all
The gameplay is basically free-roaming, destroy everything, grab most things to use as weapons or throw at other things
If you've seen/played Prototype, the same company made that, and it's essentially the same game, just without the Hulk in it. It's very fun, but I am skeptical that they made an MMO in that vein that is actually good.

Do you see that bus? Would you like to surf on that bus?
Surf on that bus.
Yeah, this too. SOE is terrible, which is the main reason I know next to nothing about DCUO.

it is junk
I kind of see it sucking
What's bad about it?
I will buy it and make new characters because of costume ideas
and then quit because I hate playing the tutorial
it'd be great if this game had those qualities but it does not

ahhHAHAHAHA. good luck suckers.
"Think of it as Evolution in Action"
Seconded. Also: Just looking at the videos and reading the comments makes me want to wait 6months before seriously looking at this game.
Secret Satan 2013 Wishlist
repetitive, boring gameplay
not enough interaction with your mentor
it seems like a mediocre action game that just goes on forever more than an mmo
because that in and of itself isn't going to last you
you can probably read any number of bad reviews, so here's what I actually did like:
- interacting with the characters, settings, and lore of the DC universe is awesome, and frankly if that prospect doesn't excite you, don't bother with this game -- it's easily the biggest draw. the first time I left the base and flew through metropolis to my first quest setting, I seriously stared at the city for a long time. it's not only cool to see, but it's also beautifully rendered. and I fought my final battle of the tutorial sequence alongside superman.
- character creation was pretty excellent. it wasn't as daunting as, say, city of heroes, while still being highly customizable and again beautifully rendered. it sort of sucked that I couldn't be mentored by batman AND have genetic powers, but I guess that's greedy.
- they've used the idea of not having to be in a group to get credit for quest progression -- it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't, but it was nice in a crowded quest area to be able to get shots off and sometimes get credit for something someone else was hitting too. would have been pretty painful otherwise.
- I played the game on both PC (at E3) and PS3 (at home) and the PS3 setup felt a whole lot more playable to me, possibly because I have certain habits established around playing MMOs -- it plays a lot more like, say, just cause 2 than wow.
anyway, it's not unplayable, it's actually pretty fun, but I don't know if it's worth a subscription fee or anything.
Hmm
You know, you should have a show where you talk about your thoughts on video games and video game-related things
has anyone ever told you that?

First off where is that still from? did they add Flaming C to Young Justice?
Also this game is awful. total crap.
It would have been OK as a 3rd person beat em up, because thats what it is. However they tried to make it an MMO. I got to level 20 and never ONCE needed to group with any other players. In fact, they where a hinderance. Its a shame because the story is good and the voice acting is great, but the game is repetitive and boring. There are nowhere near enough power choices and compared to Champions or CoH the character customization is laughable, and what is there was stolen directly from CoH
It didn't air that way
That is how they describe the game in their press releases
Everything WaM and Bucketman says is pretty much spot on, though I lean towards Bucketman's comment on the character creation being laughable after CoH/CO
Things like having Batman talking to you and sending you on missions right off the bat is pretty sweet, though, and I like how it tries to be more action-oriented. Maybe it gets better when you're leveled and have more skills to use, but spamming the attack buttons gets annoying fairly fast.
edit: you CAN pick up/smash a lot of stuff that I saw, but I think you need a higher strength character to do the bigger stuff, like CO.
edit edit: the chrome skin is really, really pretty
I was really sad by that.
