I was under the impression that IE6 didn't support transparency for PNG.
As a work around, you could simplify the graphics. Instead of running the background image all the way behind the logo, incorporate it into the original logo image and then just run it either side of the logo.
would have to be Windows, the last IE for Mac was 5
Yeah, but I ask because there are resources for checking websites in different browsers without necessarily requiring that browser to be installed on your computer.
For example, http://www.danvine.com/iecapture/ will make a screen grab of your site automatically. He's also done them for Safari as well in case you are developing on a PC. Only problem is that there's usually a queue, and last time I checked a lot of them were offline but still pretty neat for free.
Also, you can get installs of older versions of IE for the PC that you can install side-by-side with your current version of IE, so you can check your site simultaneously in, say IE 5 and 6.

Also, you know the BG color is different in IE6 than Firefox? Why is that? I'm just generally curious.

Could you take a screenshot for me? I'd really, really, appreciate it.
BTW, are you working in OSX or Windows?

I've queued wordsmitten up - it should be at this address - http://www.danvine.com/iecapture/view/?jid=51692 - in about 85 minutes. In the meantime, here's a cap from Safari.

Has something to do with MS following different standards for certain things. They also occasionally handle  's wrong, too.

It's just... RETARDED.
Haha. 'Different standards'. I vote daysleeper for MS plant
Anybody else would've said 'something to do with MS IGNORING standards'.

The answer? Don't use PNG... there's no need for multi million color lossless graphics on the internet, especially for a header like that.
