There is pretty much nothing cooler that you can put on your feet than sneakers, unless you are a joyless elderly curmudgeon (*cough* Will *cough*)
Thankfully, we are not! This is a place for youth and fun and most importantly, sweet kicks:
So, doggs, what baller shit do you put on your feet? Do you rock $500 fashion sneakers from Lanvin and Raf Simon? Do you keep it classic with Chucks and Adidas Spezials? Do you wear Jordans, all day, every day?
Personally, I tend to favor "fashion" sneakers that still manage to be reasonably priced -- awesome kicks from places like Clae or Creative Recreation.
I'm not really the most versed in the world of sneakers though -- I can only name you the biggest of big name designers, and I couldn't tell you any of the hottest collabs of the last year. So I'll leave some spoilers up here and will take suggestions for awesome brands that will make you feel like a rubber-soled king, and websites/magazines/blogs that will keep you up to date on the latest in footwear glory.
What fortuitous timing, I got my first pair of Chuck Taylors from Zappos today. They are awesome, I'm ashamed it took me this long to get a pair because I am a joyless, elderly curmudgeon.
I'm not exactly a sneaker pimp but Converse is timeless.
Where do you go to buy sneakers like that? The problem I have is that every store I go to seems to sell only the kind of sneakers that are completely covered up in logos for the brand, and I hate that.

The interbutts! Either from the brand websites directly, or from retail sites like Revolve, Yoox, Gilt, etc.
Basically, know your size and research brands to see what runs big/small.
Anything less than a full size difference shouldn't matter much.
My Russells are a bit small, and occasionally that means a blister here or there, but it's not really a big deal. I wear them constantly anyway. Next time I go with a Clae shoe, I'll go 11 instead of 10.5, but I find that as long as I stick to my true size (10.5) as closely as possible, it's not really worth fretting over the perfect fit.
I mean, shit, who cares about comfort when you look that good anyway?

Chucks are indeed a versatile and timeless classic.
The only converse I own though are laceless John Varvatos all-stars, though.
One pair of common shoe they do that are consistently in the larger sizes, with a good fit. Though I prefer the one in the more faux boot like design (same, except with higher back/sides
Not the full on boot style, which looks piss poor).

I don't wear trainers except when I am doing sport. I also don't wear shoes which have laces, because they are silly.
That said, I own a great many shoes. Or did, I threw lots of them out recently due to moving. And I may be too late to visit the sales and replenish things.

I'm kicking it in these:
At least that's the closest match I found. The soles are completely flat which was uncomfortable until they sort of adapted a bit to my feet.
I use them now too, because I think boots generally look stupid, the traction on snow and ice sucks quite a bit but I haven't tipped over yet.
I wear Van's Classics Canvas that are beat up as hell from two years of constant abuse. I've been meaning to get some iPaths but the only pair in the style I wanted (reeds high tops with purple cross stitching), the store in Harajuku that had them was out of my size.
But seriously, there's nothing about a Chuck Taylor that fits the definition of proper shoe design as has been agreed upon for 30 years. It's just unsupported canvas wrapped around flat rubber.
I only wear my chucks when I put my stilts on. The flat bottom and high ankle support gives me the most control when I've got four foot extensions strapped to my legs.

it's either that or boots/dressier shoes. No exceptions. I think a lot of sneakers just look gauche.
Not for me.

This thread is severely lacking in kicks.
I generally don't care for Nikes but they got it right with SB dunks. While much of it was marketing in the beginning Nike has managed to break into skating and stay there. Dunks are some of the most sought after collectible sneakers out there.
And while we're at it, check out my Bathing Apes.
What began humbly as a t shirt store in the 90s grew over ten years to one of the biggest names in urban fashion. Represented by the likes of Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and probably a bunch of other rap dudes I also don't listen to. The shoes are known for their blatant theft of the Nike Air Force 1 design, bright colors, patent leather, extreme price, and limited numbers. Like everything BAPE produces shoes were often limited to 100 pairs per run. Think of it as wearing one of Raphael's virgins on your feet for all to see.
I myself only own two pairs of bapes because $250 for a pair of shoes is fucking insane despite how much I love them. They are still just shoes afterall. I like the brand because the pop-culture references and the deals they make with companies like Marvel/DC Comics or Nintendo.
I'm certain plenty if flak will be tossed around for both Dunks and Bapes but to have a sneaker thread without them would be a grave error.
I almost bought a pair of used clear plastic 50 Cent branded sneakers because of how radically insane they looked, but they didn't come close to fitting. I'd post a picture but I also can't find that.

This elderly curmudgeon only goes out in sneakers to either run errands or run-run. For my errand sneakers I prefer New Balance, because they aren't made by children.
I don't have the wardrobe or airs for rainbow basketball shoes, but I have to say the simplicity of Seavees' "1963 California" look just caught my eye.
When you say "tennis shoes", their Tennis Shoes look like the Platonic form of tennis shoes:

I'm definitely a fan of SB Dunks. I don't own any personally, because I'm not sure how well they work with my aesthetic, but I'm considering getting a few in the near future.
As for BAPEs -- personally they don't really meet the threshold for what I would want in a $250 sneaker. At that point, honestly I'd rather be looking to e-bay some Martin Margielas or Lanvins or something.
I gotta say, I have a hell of a time getting properly fitted shoes. I'm a 15, and I say fuck laces, which leaves me a paltry selection. For work I have Hush Puppies I bought from Casual Male XL
Obviously not great for workouts. Since my old sneakers are disintegrating and I have a renewed love of lacelessness, does anybody have any suggestions?

I don't skate, but pretty much wear dunks exclusively as far as sneakers go. Adidases pinch my toes, and I'm not really into dropping $150+ for shoes I'm going to be dancing in puddles of alcohol in.

As a place to find shoes for you in general? Zappos? The Mrs likes them.

I have no taste at all, so I can't help with specifics.
After perusing this thread, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pick up one or two pairs of shoes online.
I really like this one:
Any thoughts? The one in black has slightly different stitching that makes it a bit more sporty than I'd like.
I have a friend who exclusively wears Nike dunks as if they sponsor him, but I constantly make fun of him for them. Paired with skinny jeans they make people look like clowns.
@Stalin -- those are sick, you should definitely grab them.
Personally I think brown is the better choice. I don't know what it is about black leather sneakers, but I'm not always a fan. I think the brown is a classic look.

Clae Russell and Zuriick Viktor, in gravel patent leather and charcoal canvas, respectively.
And the shit I really want is this:
Another Clae shoe -- the Khan, in forest leather.
