Radiant Historia - Screw Destiny! (Atlus Dream Team RPG)
Radiant Historia (ラジアントヒストリア Rajianto Hisutoria?) is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the Nintendo DS.[1] The game's development team mostly consists of Atlus staff who previously worked on games like Persona 3, Strange Journey, Nocturne, and Etrian Odyssey games.[3] The development team also includes other members who had previously worked on Radiata Stories. Yoko Shimomura of Kingdom Hearts fame composed the soundtrack.[1] The game was released on November 3, 2010 in Japan, and will be released in North American on February 22, 2011[4]
So Atlus has decided to have the SMT, EO, and Radiata Stories guys work on a Time Travel RPG.
So what we have here is a DS RPG/sRPG mix (engine looks similarish to a turn based Mega Man Battle Network fight ending) with time travel on par with Chrono Trigger's.
It'll be out in a month, a week after Dragon Quest 6.
And just in case you think this might be some sorta linear... mess with Time Travel as a basic plot coupon, I give you this quick walkthrough from Atlus. Go ahead and watch it. The thread will wait: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFFPfgujnGw
I've been looking forward to this game for awhile now. I hope the story and characters turn out well since an importer said it was very story heavy comparing it to Xenosaga/Xenogears.
Damn that's pretty cool. The shots of combat look interesting with the way the player knocked all the enemies into the same space to hit them all. Plus, you know, time travel in a way that lets you fuck with events directly.
So I skipped the first video and watched the second one.
I thought "Whoa, this is pretty cool" until 1:45.
Then my jaw hit the fucking floor and I instantly squeezed this into my budget.
This. I was like "huh, ok, it's Atlus, I'll get it" then I watched the second video as I was making this OP and the TVTropes page... and holy crap, they're actually doing Time Travel right. Like, going into alternate timelines to discover why things are going wrong in the other timelines, so you can go back and bend the other timelines back to the right path, or whatnot.
I do sincerely hope the game has multiple endings, though, and maybe an extremely hard bonus dungeon / boss. With the time travel theme, you could just pick a timeline where everything goes to shit and keep going....
It's a good thing people make threads about games like this, hard to find information about in in europe unless you follow gaming news in general. Which I don't.
Xag lives in the UK and I live in Australia, where we are each probably looking at 6 month delay at best (very few of these niche titles make it out here) and would purchase it for somewhere in the vicinity of US $60-70.
Alternately, we can import (which I do) and pay customs charges on top of the price of the game!
We only get taxes on anything over the value of $1000, so I buy all my PC stuff from you guys now!
My Wii is a US one, which I'm glad of because our VC is terrible compared the US one. I plan on importing a 3DS (probably after the first revision) so I don't miss out on the little gems like this.

Nah-ah-ah -- I get the feeling this went completely under the radar. Which is why I made the thread.
Atlus titles do that a lot. See also: Disgaea. I preordered it, went in to get it, and the Gamestop guys were like "How the hell did you know about this? Everyone and their mother has been in to buy it, and we got like 2 copies outside of your preorder."
Wow... I might just have to dust off the ol' DS for this one.
As always, I wish this was on iOS, but no matter. I absolutely love how many choices you get to make in this game. I'm somewhat intimidated though, looks like it might almost be too deep. I hope I can make the time to play this!

It kinda seems that the gameplay happens in cutscenes and you don't control your charachter much directly/ not much exploring.
Isn't a bad point for me though.
So this just jumped up to the top of my list of things I am interested in.
I am so glad the DS has allowed all these little RPGs to flourish.
Who were the geese saying the 3DS being region-locked didn't matter much, again?
Doesn't it say there that it comes out in NA on February 22?
I live in Europe, where Atlus never release anything ever.
Half my DS library is imported, if it goes on like this I'll have to buy an american 3ds as well, which would be annoying.
And as awesome as a time travel focused RPG looks, it also looks very niche.

I'm kind of pleasantly surprised on that one.

Also -- Stock, or Stocke? I'm seeing both.
which my dictionary shows as 'stock', as in 'I have this in stock".
Soon, it will be 7. (Or, at least, current_collection++, in the event that I don't own 6 games from them.)

(Serious question -- I'm trying to be bothered enough to learn Cocos2D and Objective C to make my first magnum opus -- a SaGa inspired Roguelike.)
Those are some good tunes.
