last year I got TurboTax 2009 Home & Business and Quicken 2010 Home & Business (I was freelance most of last year).

Now that tax season is coming up, I am wondering what I have to update and what I don't have to update.

From what I can tell, Quicken 2010 should be just fine for my taxes this year, and I don't need to upgrade to 2011.

I guess my real question is, do I have to upgrade my TurboTax 2009 to TurboTax 2010 if I want to do my taxes through that program this year?

They don't update the old products with the current year's tax law changes, so you have to upgrade.

Personally I'm not sure what the benefit to buying TurboTax is over just using their online web stuff.

My reason is that if you wait it out, you can pay a decent bit less for the software than the online version.

Other people are nervous about storing all their tax info online, but afaik none of the major companies have had their records stolen.
