ME3 is still going to be running on the same 5 year-old hardware though. I'm skeptical we'll see that much of a jump in visuals, at least not on the consoles (and it's not like they'll put in extra work to actually tax PCs either).
At the risk of sounding negative, all I noticed was that it had a lot of horizontal tearing. Otherwise it had the same (otherwise good) visuals of ME2 on Xbox 360.
But that's just the demo.

Well...like someone explained. Even if it is running on the ME3 engine, it's still using ME2's assets and scripting. So you probably won't notice much difference.
So I finally picked this up for $14. I really didn't enjoy the first Mass Effect (rented it, stopped playing after a few hours), but I do usually like me some Bioware and after hearing all the praise this game was getting I figured I couldn't lose at that price.
Will I be missing much, not having played the first game to completion?

Except for the lack of refresh sync, I imagine, yeah.
Okay, so I installed ME2 on the PS3, downloaded the Stuff You Get To Download Because You Bought ME2 PS3 New, Not Used, and now I'm trying to find the "motion comic" that fills in the story of ME1.
Can anyone tell me where I can find it? I've checked the EA and BioWare forums, and if anyone else has had this issue, they haven't made the thread about it.
Help!

Which (if any) of the downloadable weapon and armor packs are worth it?
Don't bother with anything for your first run.
I have no idea what the recon operations pack is, unless it's like the Dr. Pepsi helmets. Firepower adds three excellent guns that will shift the balance of the game (Mattock especially), so definitely avoid the first time through. Aegis offers a pretty good armor set (especially for vanguards since it's like +30% melee damage, +25% shields, and some +weapon/headshot damage) that can be worn piece by piece like the normal N7 armor - but you don't really need to worry about armor in ME2 too much. Equalizer is just some helmets and helmeted armor, and most people avoid wearing helmets in the first place.
The interactive comic was pretty good. The whole thing was narrated by Jennifer Hale. I'm sure if a person were to pick ManShep that it would be narrated by him too, but nobody would ever pick ManShep cause FemShep is much too awesome.

Yeah. I did think a lot of things in the comic were underexplained, but only so much you can do in 8 minutes.
True, it wasnt so much the details, it was the tone I think? At least with Maleshep its pretty dismissive and you arent really given the proper impression of the rachni queen, which admittedly is hard to do when dealing with a giant bug.

FemShep is awesome... if you enjoy listening to someone who doesn't give a fuck
Correct.
Generally, Shepard does not give a fuck. You know why? Because she's killed her way up and down this crapsack galaxy being shot at, losing friends and family, risking her neck for politicians who just ask if it could be done without bothering them. It takes a hell of a lot to surprise her, or make her panic. She's professional and does not have time for your crap.

I'm taking a default Adept shep through ME 2, since I've never really done the biotic thing. I've got a Vanguard going, and he's fun and all whoa how'd I end up over here, and what's all this shit all in my hair and all over the walls? But yeah, Adepts are a lot of fun too. I really enjoy the biotics thing in ME 2. I like how for my Adept, guns are just things you wave around in peoples faces before you turn them into sacks of jelly with your brain.
seriously though, I'm taking a break. No more Mass Effect until ME 3 or a DLC. When Three comes out I will retreat to my apartment and play through all of them, DLC included, in one glorious playthrough.
I demand you livestream this.

It'd be amazing. Slow descent into madness.
I figure sometime around Mordin's recruitment the line between reality and Mass Effect will dim.
By the collector ship, it will have shattered completely.
By Mass Effect 3, you'll be talking about your wife, Katie and her stockings as the weaker willed among the viewing audience are reduced to husks.
FemShep is awesome... if you enjoy listening to someone who doesn't give a fuck, and is stoned on Nyquil.
ManShep fo lyfe!
I too enjoy the dulcet, emotionless, dead-on-the-inside tones of Mark Meer.
Because the last thing I want in my Bioware game is the conveying of emotion. Shepard should sound like President Calvin Coolidge, but chattier and more confused, and with Mr. Shepard, that's what you get.

God. Even for the infinitely well trod ground of the Mass Effect thread, the VA debate is tiresome.
Jesus, even as playful ribbing this has got to be the most pointless thing ever. Can this thing, this one thing just be written off as personal preference and never spoken of again?
Cause guess what? It just is. It Super just is. Both kinda suck actually, but they have to, because it's a shitload of material and it's meant to be generic as it is a player avatar. There is no Shepard, just YOUR Shepard.

Or are soldiers just vanguards that are too dumb to use biotics?
Hmmmm....
I like Vanguards...
Vanguards are pretty great.

Husk bowling is awesome. Aside from the fact that you aren't always fighting husks, it's still awesome when you do it.

You?
You're good people.
Why I fear the ocean.
"She was a total dick and is probably lying about not hurting any more people" - Ah kill her then?
It omits the fact that she was indoctrinated and that the rachni they were killing up until that point were brainless and not sent by her to kill you.

I liked in Mass Effect 2 how Shepard's paragon response to the Queen's message was essentially "No mind controlling people! Bad Rachni!"
Oh, Shepard. You assume everyone is a moron compared to you just because it's true.
Why I fear the ocean.
you just spent a whole mission fighting them
it is revealed that queens can be easily corrupted by the reapers
the council isn't even confident enough to make its own decision on the matter and forces it on you
Lies.
Filthy lies.
Indeed you are.
