I'm playing a shifty old professor who is a total creep. I've bedded the artist's model and I'm debating if I should go after the artist as well.
Also I hate challenges that make you lose things when you fail. I'm trying to go after this huge, monster rat and when I gain enough "running battle" it provides the option to shoot it on site or to explore its den. I want to explore the den but even when I get enough running battle to reduce it to a chancy risk I fail and lose all my points. Then I have to work my running battle back up again.
I just know I'll find something cool in that rat's nest!
So build up your "running battle" score until the more difficult challenge is relatively easy to beat.
Yeah, I built it up to 10 running battle (when the required was only 5) and got 24 rats on a string and a nice pile of rostygold.
When my nightmares reached 6 I started seeing a man in the streets, and then I choose to follow him and it gave me the option to say hi or avoid him and when I said hi my nightmares went up to 7
Hmm. My blue quest thing gave me the opportunity to go to one of two places. They both cost about five bucks, so I got enough echoes to buy the street sign to get to one of them. I need 37 dangerous to continue. I had 12.
I have so many different recurring dreams at varying levels of intensity I'm pretty sure I never actually sleep, just remain motionless in a state of terror for eight hours a night.
I'm taking a Persuasive bent, and have the Venture of seducing the "Honey-Sipping Heiress"
GodDAMN are there a lot of challenges that drop you back to a previous level when failed. They keep offering me a way out, to just cut and run, but at this point I'm too stubborn to leave it without seeing how far it goes. So I just keep pouring action point after action point into a relationship with Fallen London's drug-addled Paris Hilton.

Is Rostygold used for anything? I feel like most of the stuff I've gotten is used for something or another, but I can't remember any storylets that needed rostygold.

If I recall, there's some opportunity card that uses a fair amount of it for some sort of gain, but since I didn't have the connections it wanted as well I just discarded and kept moving.

how long have you been playing?
3 days or so
so you're about as far along as I am, which is to say not very far at all
so maybe you should be patient and see what you might need it for down the road!
If you go to the Carnival, you can get an idea of the things you should be seeking. There are several ways to get tickets. I done much there but I assume it's fun and rewarding.
