Also, just my perspective, but don't worry so much about which action will yield the best loot. To me, the strength of this game is all the funky little storylets you can explore and odd situations you find yourself in. So rather than trying to min/max your decision for the best outcome, just go with what feels like the most fun/interesting/horrifying/sexy.

I always write back something risque. I go for the options that are likely to yield something interesting.
I made the mistake in my first Memory of the Surface of taking the no-conflict way out, when I clearly should have gone the rouet that would create something dynamic. I've been more careful since then.

I agree completely - I'm not really concerned about outcomes. The reason I've asked what people think I should do is because I'm just curious to hear your thoughts.

I am starting to worry about all the items in my inventory. Every single item I have sold so far has turned out to have some use later on, so I don't really want to sell anything anymore. Rostygold and nevercold brass silver seem pretty close to it, but I am sure that they too have some uses eventually.
if you get to 8 nightmares you go insane and are exiled to A State of Some Confusion
unlike the Scandal failure state, the Nightmares one will erase your progress in the dreams storyline unless you buy a vial of nectar from Mr. Wines in an Opportunity card, which costs Fate.

I am tracking down this absconding devil for the Brass Embassy, looking around the smoky music halls and taverns of ill repute of fallen london
I'm no investigator, no detective with a heart of gold. I'm doing it for the Echos.
but as I get closer and closer to my target, I begin to wonder: for on this mission of Hell to bring back Hades' missing, do two wrongs make a right, or is righteousness itself wrong altogether?
the nightmares are getting worse. let's hope I can solve this before it gets too much to bare

Devils are a real pain in the ass. My Mysterious Benefactor keeps popping by to ask me to track one down for him, and even though it's only a modest challenge, I keep failing. I must have tried 5 or 6 times already.

Ok, I thought I'd completed the "Absconding Devil" quest because I trailed them to the docks, warned him that she wasn't to be trusted and he gave me some diamonds and sailed off anyway
But now there's another quest here that looks identical
