Doesn't nearly everywhere have some form of weird town/student/country/etc split?
Town/country was pretty pronounced at school (they even divided us up into town/country houses), then at university the student & uni was pretty divorced from the city - only the main shopping district was really commonly used and there certainly was no socialising outside of incidental. Hell, even local police couldn't enter the university without permission
The UW in seattle is as well integrated into the city as any of the neighborhoods are.
wait Rivs are they really making a sequel to FFXIII?
yes! it is the most awesome announcement in like ages.
Okay help me out here, because there's still a part of me that wants to one day buy FFXIII despite the terrible reviews and strong objections of everyone I've heard speak of it here. Why do you want more of it?

Because it was an awesome game? Great, engaging characters with realistic arcs, a gorgeous setting, a fun battle system.
Like if I try and think of complaints, more/more functional loot is about the only one that really comes to mind.

It's not uncommon for pets to get some form of cancer later in life.
Yeah. Not that it probably makes you feel better, but pets tend to die of cancer. People would die of cancer more than anything else if we didn't have such shitty diets and die of heart disease so much.

Not sure yet. The cat's blood came back with a high sodium level which is indicative of cancer. So now it has to go in for a cardiac echo to find out what kind.
I swear to god, this cat better not die for at least 6 months. If not a year.
I don't think I've ever told her to just flat out stop doing something she enjoyed. That show is such cancer.
Teen Mom is obnoxious, it shows a bunch of morons that "It'll be ok your parents will take care of your mistake while you go party and then you get to yell at them while MTV selectively edits so it looks like they were being unreasonable."
They try and claim its about showing how its hard to raise a child and then tape while a woman commits domestic abuse.
I mean, there's some truth to that I guess. At least two of my cousins have that deal going on where their parents end up raising their children's kids, mostly because my cousins are kind of worthless. Caught one of those MTV episodes, and tbh, it was pretty accurate representation of how mid-western lower class families deal with teen pregnancy.
That's not to say the show has altruistic ambitions, it's pure shit. The show I hate the most in that vein is A&E's Hoarders, which is purely a let's film the squalor some people live in for shock value show.

Tell the cat to lay off the fucking pretzels on game day.

What I've heard is that the game's pacing is godawful, that the tutorial part of the game lasts way too long and once it's over you're basically thrown out into an overworld without much direction. Visually I've heard no complains, and the game does look and sound beautiful from what I've seen, but story-wise I've heard nothing positive at all, which is a bad sign when it comes to a franchise known for its well-crafted narratives.

I love hoarders, in that purely "Whoa these people are fucked up" sort of way. The sad part is for most of them they never recover. Saw a "what happened after" show and most had back tracked.

FF13 really wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be, you had to struggle for a while, but in the end it was probably better than 12 as long as you finished when the story ended and didn't try to do something silly like completing all the missions. It has A LOT of flaws, and could've been brilliant if they didn't do so much to "streamline" things.
I doubt I would pick up an FF13-2, but if it goes the same route as ff10-2 then at least it won't have that stupid whiny kid character who continued to be awful even after all the other characters became kinda cool.

Hoarders is a lot better than it could be. They save a lot of homes from being condemned and provide funds and contacts to keep the therapy and cleanup going after the camera crews leave.

I'm not gonna lie, I like those games where it has a huge exposition and such and lets you sort of float along, a la Mass Effect and Morrowind and such
I don't know where FFXIII fits into that spectrum, not that it matters because I don't have a PS3

It's also on the 360.
And FFXIII is one of those games that you could get 35 hours into with a little robot repeatedly pressing the X button.

Yeah, it's pretty much "you need to get a better diet, so you can die of cancer instead of a heart attack."

That's my huge issue with the show, as I understand it they provide a limited therapist during production of the show, and then once filming is done, these poor bastards are left to their own devices again. And it's usually pretty clear they have debilitating mental health issues.
