With the exception of the fact that anyone can beat the game in about 20 minutes now (17?) using the two flutes.

If they broke out like a never heard of, never before seen game on a super huge screen I'd jizz my pants. Maaaaannnn...I hope they pick me.

It'll be Halo 2 set-up "The Wizard" style, I'd bet money on that. Bungie is a nice bunch folks (met a handful of them at a Seattle Sputnik meeting as they gave a presentation about the AI in Halo), and Halo 2 is about as big as games come and is set to be released a month or two after the PAX. Penny Arcade already has expressed an interest in this game, and like four million other game development companies are based in the Microsoft Games "Complex" in Redmond.

Halo 2 would be an enchanting idea, though personally I'm partial to rock-paper-scissors.

The best idea I can come up with yet, however, is Pong.

Well, let's look at the games already being used in the tournament.

-Diceland
Genre: Board game.

-Halo
Genre: Console FPS

-Double Dash
Genre: Console Racer

-Dance Dance Revolution
Genre: DDR

-Doom
Genre: PC FPS

-Secret title.

I would predict that the secret title will definitely be a classic game, and probably not a fighting game (as there's too great a chance of one player being unfairly dominant at any specific one) and not a racing title either. As such, I predict it will be a timed run through an adventure game. I'd hope against hope for something like the NES Rygar, but it could very well be Super Metroid or the original Zelda.

Other major possibilities would include Starcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Ocarina of Time, or (as has been advanced in this thread) a previously unseen or unplayed title like Halo 2.

Come to think of it in the Movie the Wizard,

Mario 3 was not played previosly before the final it was new to everyone.

GABE and TYCHO must be using some wizardish ideas its obvious if they could get there hands on an unreleased mario game that would rule.

But i think the nod will goto Mario 1 speed run.

However a mario 1 speed run would be a bloody good qualifier just say to level 8-2 and the top 20 times went through anyone okay can get there in under 8 mins yeh ?

A nes game or maybe snes would be cool, not a mega indepth game just something everyone in the crowd knows how to play and could blast through but you guys in the crowd didnt get to the final did you :P


2 guys, 2 nes pads taking some turn based game and sweating there asses off would rule.

If it's going to be an old skool game, it's going to be Pacman. I don't even think I need to say why. If it's a game in the last 5 years, an SNK fighting game. Unreleased I'd say Halo 2.

The more I think about it, the more I really really hope it's Chess.

Well, that would at least give me a chance at the finals. i rock hard at chess, but blow goat ass at fighting games. its tragic, i know, but such is life.... we dont pick the cards, we just play the odds.

if it's SMB3 i have a great swell of pity for the poor soul i go up against.

Pong would rule- but along the lines of the "Unrealeased, big deal game" angle, the "Microsoft" angle, and the lack of a fighting game- perhaps they'll square off over a DOA beta.

It has to be something different that the rest of the stuff, so my bet is either super-classic like has been suggested or some alternate input arcade game like Mocap Boxing or something.

Of course, it would be sweet if they pulled out Mad Maestro since it's really different than pretty much everything else and most people haven't played it.

I'd also be really happy to see a Tetris Attack game happen, but that's another game that has a chance of one player being way too dominant.

I think it would be cool if they had Unreal Championship 2 as the final game, but I bet it will be a PS2 game, since they have a PC game, a tabletop game, a GC game, a Xbox game, and an arcade game, but no PS2 game. Maybe Socom 3 or something? I don't play PS2 so I don't know what the big releases in the future are...
