Sony TV video glitch?

I have a Sony Bravia 46V5100 LCD TV, and it mostly works great. But lately it's been having an issue whereby it seems to lose the signal it's receiving and goes to a screen of randomized static (like "snow", except all colors instead of just black and white). It's generally when there's a shift in the signal being received, like when you start or stop a DVR recording, or if it's receiving a streaming video signal and the signal cuts off for a second due to bandwidth issues, things like that.

It's fairly infrequent, and it doesn't happen every time there's a hiccup in the signal, but it happens often enough that it's annoying. When the signal is lost, it occasionally comes back on its own after a minute or two, but I can also just switch the input on the receiver away and then back, and this forces it to "find" the signal again.

It didn't happen when we first got the TV (about a year ago), rather it started up maybe a couple months ago. I've tried Googling the issue, but I can't find any such issue directly linked to this TV model, and searching for it is made difficult by the fact I have no idea what to call it. I don't think it's an issue with the receiver, but I could be mistaken, I suppose.

So - does anyone have either experience with such an issue, or at least an idea of what I can call it to aid in searching for a solution?

I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.

To see if it's the receiver, plug in some other device that can have a skip in the signal, like a 360 when you switch to a game, and see if it does the same thing.

Phone a certified sony repair center and ask if your model has a firmware update. Dealt with so many sonys that required them due to firmware blips (although I should add not your model specifically). You should be able to find your version number in the menu somewhere.
