Nothing time sensitive or anything, I just like them. The only things I want in them are:

+Realism
+Large scale
+Detail

Recommend away! Oh, and I particularly like paintings of naval battles.

Gracias!

I hate you and you hate me.

Google Image Search: "paintings of _______________"

    - Lepanto
    - Trafalgar
    - Siege of Vienna
    - Waterloo

Those are just off the top of my head. Basically any major battle worth talking about, there were some paintings done. Even stuff that happened before realistic painting styles developed, someone in a later period probably painted it at some point.

Or you could go check out Goya's stuff from the Spanish Civil War.

Actually I don't really want to sit here and find a bunch of paintings for you so I will point you to a great resource for representational artwork. Artrenewal.org

There is an amazing amount of content on that site and there are certainly a lot of paintings of war.

North Korea's Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum has a pretty epic one with a giant spinning platform for the audience in the middle. Heres one piece of it:

There are probably better pictures but this was what came up with a quick google.

It apparently took 40 artists a few years to paint it.

    *Psssst*

(The OP said he was looking for realism. Picasso probably doesn't count)

I like the one in cake's post where everyone's fighting intently except for the dude with the look of horror on his face trying to get the fuck out of there.
